Tatiana Palacios Chapa (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, December 12, 1968), known simply as Tatiana, is a Mexican actress, singer and television presenter. She has been nominated five times for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category of Best Latin Music Album for Children and has sold 9 million records worldwide.

Childhood

Tatiana was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while her father attended the University of Pennsylvania. The family returned to Mexico and she was raised in Monterrey by her parents, Dr. José Ramón Palacios Ortega (1944) and Diana Perla Chapa de Palacios (1942), after her father completed her studies in Pennsylvania.

Early career and pop music

Tatiana began her career in 1983 at the age of 15, winning various local and regional talent competitions. In 1984 he won the "El rostro" contest organized by El Heraldo de México and his first major musical project, with the character "Jane", in the 1984 live staging Kumán, a Mexican rock opera about a Tarzan. The 1984 soundtrack album for the show, also titled Kumán, was released under the group name Cristal y Acero. Rock trio consisting of guitarist Icar Smith, bassist Carlos Ortega, and drummer Samuel Shapiro.

That same year he released his first album titled "Tatiana", from which the hits were released: "El amor no se calla", "Dear friend" and "A plena luz", this last song was part of the film "Un sábado más" in the year of 1985, where she acts next to Pedro Fernández.

In 1986, she recorded and released her second album, titled "Chicas De Hoy," where the song of the same name would become an anthem for an awakening Latino generation. But it would be the song "Cuando Estemos Juntos", performed as a duet with Johnny Lozada (ex Menudo), which would position itself as the No. 1 song in 26 Latin American cities. The theme, along with "Stop", would be used in an international campaign of the Better World Society for which Tatiana would receive an award at the White House in Washington, D.C, being the first Latina to obtain this award. From this second album, the songs also stood out: "Mario" and "I am going to fall in love".

That same year the album "Eterna Navidad" was released, where she performed Christmas carols alongside artists such as Daniela Romo, Mijares, Oscar Athie, Yuri, among others. This group of artists (including Tatiana) became known as "La Hermandad".

In 1987, Tatiana released her third album titled "Baila conmigo" of which the songs stand out: "Baila conmigo", "Bandolero" and a duet song "Somos hermanos" with her brother Juan Ramón.

In 1988 his fourth album titled "A Wolf in the Night" which includes the hits: "A Wolf in the Night" and "Danger in the elevator", these two songs managed to position themselves on the popularity charts both in Mexico and in Latin America. This year she also participated in the film Suétate el pelo, directed by Manuel Summers, whose main protagonists are the members of the Spanish musical group Hombres G.

The production titled "The Things I Have Seen" appeared in 1989, his fifth album of which the songs stood out: "Boys, boys", "Maldita soledad" and "Fire on the skin".

From 1984 to 1994, Tatiana released 10 pop music albums that earned numerous #1 hits, 15 gold, platinum and 4 records throughout Latin America.

Children's music and television

In 1995, Tatiana began her childhood stage, with albums that since then have achieved no less than 24 gold, 8 platinum and 4 diamond records.

Seeking to leave a musical legacy for his children, he decided to dedicate himself to the children's genre since 1995 and thanks to this he achieved additional recognition. Two years after starting with the child side of her, she had a contract with the Walt Disney Company. Tatiana was the first Mexican artist with a doll in her image and likeness of her, with five different models since 1997 and more than 180 products on the market.

Her television program "El Espacio de Tatiana" it began to be broadcast in 1997 in more than 15 countries in the first audience places, ending in 2001. However, it continues to be broadcast in repetitions in the United States and Central America.

In 1997 he did the dubbing for Latin America of the Disney film, Hercules, in the character of Megara, in which he interpreted the Latin American Spanish version of the theme: I Won& #39;t Say I'm In Love, titled: I will not speak of my love.

In 2002 and 2003, Tatiana recorded 2-volume albums called "The Best Songs from Walt Disney Movies Volume 1 and 2". For Disney, this was the first time that a single artist performed her best songs.

From 2003 to the present, Tatiana was appointed the official spokesperson for Disney in Latin America for the course "The World of Disney English" that she wants the Hispanic community in the United States and in general Latin America to learn or improve the English language.

Close to the grand finale of La Academia Bicentenario, it was announced that Tatiana would host a children's version of the reality show titled "La Academia Infantil", which was supposed to premiere in early 2011. However, In February 2011, Tatiana announced that the project has been canceled and would no longer take place.

In March 2012, Tatiana returns to television with El show de Tatiana through Azteca, the program is a version of "El Show De Xuxa".

Her most recent appearances on television were in the telenovela Amy, the girl with the blue backpack playing a mermaid named Coral and in the program Everyone thinks they know together with Carlos Espejel. In addition, she recently doubled the role of Shelly in the 3D film Sammy in the Secret Passage for Corazon Films.

She returns to Televisa again in 2021 to play Raquel Orozco in the telenovela Muchachitas produced by Pedro Damián and participated in the program ¿Quién es la máscara? from Televisa. Since 2022, Tatiana began to be the presenter of the cooking reality show MasterChef Mexico, in December of that same year her single "I don't want to bathe" obtained a platinum record in Mexico by the Mexican Association of Phonogram and Videogram Producers.

Return to pop music

In 2005, he released his first pop album in over a decade, titled Acústico-Mil Gracias, an unplugged acoustic album with covers of some of his pop songs. He thus performs a number of new songs, including 2 in English.

Her 2007 tour had 56 sold-out concerts, and her subsequent 2008 tour, Espapirifárctico, covered 64 concerts across 5 countries.

On November 28, 2010, Tatiana introduced herself as a new member of TV Azteca, making her debut on that station in the musical program La Academia Bicentenario, where she performed the song "Te Quiero" and she also participated as a jury.

In 2014, Tatiana resumed her career as a theater actress in Mentiras, the musical alternated the role of "Lupita", the poor secretary.

He currently has his new album of the children's genre ready, in which the group “Maldita Vecindad”, members of “Jumbo” and “La Trakalosa de Monterrey” participated.

Tatiana was the first Mexican artist with a doll in her image and likeness, with five different models since 1997 and more than 180 products on the market.
