Tarkan
Tarkan Tevetoğlu (Alzey, Germany, October 17, 1972), popularly known as Tarkan, is a Turkish singer, one of the most successful and admired from Turkey and Germany. He has released several best-selling albums during his career.
Tarkan's first record company was İstanbul Plak. Without the consent of his parents, in 1997 he established his own record label called HITT Music with which he currently works.
Along with his musical career, he has taken part in numerous social projects and is known as a "mega star" and "Prince of the Bosporus" in the press.One of the few Europeans to have achieved success without singing in English, he is also known for his live performances. Tarkan's effect in Turkey has been compared by the Washington Post to that of Elvis Presley in North America around 1957 and Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegün described him as one of the greatest live artists to ever He has also been listed by Rhapsody as the most important artist in European pop music history, with his song "Şımarık". Biography
Tarkan Tevetoğlu was born on October 17, 1972 in Alzey, West Germany, the son of Neşe and Ali Tevetoğlu. His mother named him after the comic book character Tarkan. The name is said to come from an ancient king or title Turkish, meaning brave and strong. Tarkan showed an interest in music in childhood. Tarkan and his five siblings moved to Turkey in 1986 with their parents and settled in Karamürsel, Kocaeli. After their father's death, her mother married an architect, Seyhun Kahraman. She has three half-siblings, named Adnan, Gülay and Nuray from her mother's first marriage, and a brother, Hakan, and a younger sister, Handan from her father's marriage.
Tarkan started his secondary school and took Turkish Art and music classes at the Karamürsel Association for Advanced Music. After his family moved to Istanbul, he continued his music studies at the Uskudar Music Society and began performing. in various places. After finishing high school, he made plans to go to Germany for his higher education and in the meantime, signed a contract with Istanbul Plak owned by Mehmet Söğütoğlu for the release of his first album.
Career
1992-2000: Yine Sensiz, Aacayipsin and Ölürüm Sana
Tarkan released his first album Yine Sensiz on cassettes under the Istanbul Plak label on December 26, 1992. He wrote lyrics for three of the album's songs, composed three other songs and chose "Kıl Oldum" to be his first single. On June 18, 1993, three new versions of the album were released on CD. Together with 'Kıl Oldum', he made the music videos for the songs 'Kimdi', 'Gelip de Halimi Gördün mü?', & # 34; Vazgeçemem & # 34; and "Çok Ararsın Beni". The record sold over 700,000 copies in total. In 2001 he released his album Karma which critics consider his best album so far, with a good production. Two singles were extracted from it in Turkey: Kuzu Kuzu, which sold 200,000 copies on cassette and 500,000 copies on CD. and Hüp.
Three months later, in July 2001, his fourth studio album Karma was released. Tarkan wrote and composed six of the songs, and Nazan Öncel, Mete Özgencil and Mazhar Alanson assisted him on its preparation. The album Karma sold one and a half million copies. Although Karma was not released worldwide, it was distributed in large shipments to Russia, where it was had become the best-seller by a foreign pop star. Tarkan's eighth album, Metamorphoz, was released by D&R stores in Turkey on December 25, 2007, one day before its general release on the market. It includes ten new songs of his authorship (three of them co-composed with Ozan Çolakoğlu). In it, Tarkan sings again in Turkish, once again fusing Eastern and Western rhythms. The album sold more than 200,000 copies and the songs "Vay Anam Vay", "Pare Pare", "Arada Bir" and "Dilli Düdük" they had music videos. Tarkan released his new album 10 under the DMC label on June 15, 2017. Of the 14 songs on the album, "Yolla", written by Tarkan and composed by Ozan Çolakoğlu was released as the lead single and featured a music video.
Personal life
Marriage
On April 29, 2016, Tarkan married his longtime girlfriend Pınar Dilek. The couple met in 2011, after a concert in Germany. Dilek had been a fan of Tarkan long before meeting him. On July 12, 2018, the couple had their first daughter named Liya.
Military service
At the height of his fame in 1999, Tarkan was called up for military service, which had been legally deferred since 1995. The deadline for the start of his service had passed in 1998, but due to the contractual obligations abroad after the success of his compilation album did not return to Turkey to do his military service. The media debated whether Tarkan should be seen as a deserter and stripped of his citizenship. Even the Turkish parliament discussed the issue. After the August 1999 earthquake that struck Turkey, legislation was enacted allowing those covered by the law to pay $16,000 to benefit earthquake victims to shorten their mandatory military service to 28 days. Tarkan returned to Turkey in 2000, took advantage of this law, and finished his service. Of his short time in military training, he said: "It was January and it was snowing like crazy. It was difficult; the food was terrible. Eighteen months of my life for nothing? I thought my own dreams were more important."
