History
Its foundation dates back to the repopulation carried out by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, being integrated into the quarter of Villoria of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, within the Kingdom of León. Named in the century XIII "Taraçona", possibly due to the use of people from the Aragonese city of Tarazona in its medieval repopulation, owes the "from Guareña" to be located in the surroundings of the Guareña river valley. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Tarazona de Guareña was included in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonesa Region. On July 2, 1916, the town changed its official name from Tarazona by that of Tarazona de Guareña.
