The Banner Saga video game. The characters take turns to move on the gridboard and attack.

Tactical role-playing game, also known as TRPG (acronym in English for tactical role-playing game) or SRPG (abbreviation in English of strategy role playing game ), is a genre of video games with elements of role-playing video games and strategy video games.

In these video games the player controls a group of characters (they can vary throughout the game) who must overcome battles that consist of moving the fighters around a stage divided into squares (not always visible) and attacking the contestants of the opposite side with weapons, abilities, spells, etc.

  • The fighters get experience and rise to level, becoming stronger.
  • They can be equipped with all kinds of objects.
  • The battles follow a predetermined history but can follow different paths according to the actions carried out.
