Swaziland Communist Party
The Communist Party of Swaziland is a political party in Swaziland. It was outlawed immediately after its founding by the country's king Mswati III, and operates from exile in Kamhlushwa, in neighboring South Africa.
The Party claims to be democratic, non-racist and non-sexist. Its goals are, among other things, to grant legal status to all political parties in Swaziland, abolish the current monarchy and safeguard the rights of workers to organize and unionize.
Previously there was another communist party, known as SWACOPA, which was founded in 1994. It was led by Mphandlana Shongwe and Zakhe Genindza.
This party also suffered repression by the regime, with many of its cadres detained. After the withdrawal of the anti-party decree of 1973, this party was one of the first to register as an official political party.
