Su Tong 苏童 is the pen name of Tong Zhonggui 童中贵 (Suzhou, 1963), a Chinese writer based in Nanjing.

Biography

Graduated from Peking Normal University in Chinese Literature, Su Tong has written to date (2011) more than 200 stories and 7 novels, of which one has been translated into Spanish: My life as an emperor, about a ruler who never existed. In 2006 he participated in the Canongate Myth Series project with the short novel Binu and the Great Wall .

His most famous work is The Red Lantern or Wives and Concubines, thanks to the fact that it was made into a film by Zhang Yimou (among the 10 awards he won, the most notable Silver Lion at the 1991 Venice Film Festival.
