Students in Free Enterprise
SIFE or Students in Free Enterprise, is a global network made up of university students, academic leaders, business executives and entrepreneurs, committed with the sustainable development of a better world for all. It also forms a partnership between business and higher education, to train the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
SIFE is the largest university network on the planet, with a presence on all 5 continents, within which there are more than 45 countries affiliated with more than 1,800 universities.
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE, for its acronym in English), was founded in Texas (USA), in 1975 through the National Leadership Institute and the Southwestern Life Insurance company.
In the 90's, SIFE began its global expansion strategy, reaching countries such as Poland, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Canada and Mexico.
Annually, since 2001, SIFE has held global competitions in different parts of the world, in order to evaluate the projects presented by university teams in their communities. This championship follows a process by which teams from 48 participating countries must earn the title of national champions, through national and regional competitions, depending on the specific case of each country.
The SIFE program focuses on five areas: Market Economy, Management Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Environmental Sustainability, Business Ethics, in addition to guaranteeing the work carried out by these people, through the principle of Sustainability.
Students are led by SIFE Counselors who challenge them to develop projects that meet specific needs of their communities. Their efforts help individuals who dream of being entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs struggling with their businesses, low-income families, and children have successful experiences.
Through SIFE, university students improve the quality and standard of living of the people who make up the communities they choose and live a profound experience of personal growth.
SIFE's main objective is to train young people to assume significant roles of leadership and influence, to run sustainable companies, build strong communities and create a world with greater opportunities for all of us.
