Stewart Grand Prix
Stewart Grand Prix or Stewart GP was a Formula 1 team founded in 1997 by three-time F1 champion Jackie Stewart and his son Paul Stewart. The team competed in the 3-year-old category, during this period it was supported by Ford, achieving a victory and a pole position.
History
Although they formed the new team from scratch, a considerable amount of experience went into it. Three-time Formula 1 champion Jackie Stewart had excellent connections with the Ford Motor Company, which helped the team by supplying engines for its first season. Paul Stewart had a moderately successful racing career in Formula 3000 and lesser categories and had experience with Paul Stewart Racing, a well-established and respected team in Formula 3 and Formula 3000.
The team has one victory to its credit, that of Johnny Herbert in the 1999 European Grand Prix.
At the end of 1999 Ford bought the team and renamed it Jaguar Racing. In 2004 Jaguar Racing was purchased by the energy drink company Red Bull and became Red Bull Racing.
