Stereopathetic Soul Manure —in Spanish: Estercol de Alma Estereopatética— is the second studio album by American musician Beck, released on 22 February 1994 through Flipside Records and was produced by Beck Hansen, Tom Grimley and Gus Hudson. As of July 2008, Stereopathetic Soul Manure had sold 146,000 copies in the United States.

Recording and release

The album is made up of songs that were recorded during the period 1988-1994 and includes folk tracks, demos, live performances, and noise, making it one of the most experimental and varied albums in terms of style content.. The album is a schizophrenic collection of lo-fi recordings, ranging from hardcore to rough tracks that can only sound inspired at the time of their creation. One of the examples is the song "Rollins Power Souce", a tribute to Henry Rollins. Much of the music on the album draws from the loud, experimental post-punk of Sonic Youth and the dirty rock of Pussy Galore. Essentially, the record was both a palate cleanser, designed to scare off fans of "Loser," and a bid for indie credibility, as the music on Stereopathetic is equally as uncompromising as that of Sonic Youth.

The album was released a week before the release of their debut album on Geffen Records, Mellow Gold. This album is actually Beck's third official recording, released before the hit song 'Loser'. However, AllMusic describes the release as months after Mellow Gold. Beck would soon return with another independent release, the plaintive and mostly folky One Foot in the Grave—his third album from 1994—before recording his second album at Geffen, Odelay (nineteen ninety six).

This version separates the sounds and melodies that gave the beginning and the end of some songs. These separate tracks are called "Noise", like for example "No Money No Honey", the beginning is separated into another track called "Noise 1". "Bonus Noise" appears a few minutes after finishing "Modest" and unlike the original version of Stereopathetic Soul Manure it does not carry a separate track in relation to it. The song and silent intermission lead to track 26 at a duration of 20:07. The theme "Ken" it was not added in this version.
