Sprites (soda)
Sprite is a carbonated water-based soft drink with a lime or lemon flavor, colorless and caffeine-free, created by "The Coca-Cola Company". The drink was developed in West Germany in 1959 under the name Fanta Klare Zitrone (Light Lemon Lime Fanta) and was introduced to the US market in 1961 under the current name of Sprite, as a competition to 7Up (which had been on the market since 1929). Sprite is currently sold in more than 190 countries.
Sprite's clear bottles are green (colorless for its Zero version and some returnable bottles, with the exception of glass ones) while the cans feature green, blue, yellow, and silver colors.

In the 1980s, many years after its introduction, Coca-Cola pressured its largest bottlers, who distributed 7 Up, to replace the competition with their own product.
