Family of microorganisms of the order Spirochaetales of the Phylum Spirochaetes, class Spirochaetes.

Anaerobic, facultative anaerobic or microaerophilic bacteria, helical with a diameter between 0.1 and 3.0 micrometers, the ends are not curved. In peptidoglycan they have L-ornithine. They use carbohydrates or amino acids as energy and carbonated source.
