The spinnaker, ball jib, spinnaker, balloon sail or Balloon sail is a special sail for sports sailing boats. It has a symmetrical shape with respect to the axis of the boat.

Used when the wind is blowing from behind (afterwind or long). The sail is shaped like a half ball and is very large. It is placed in front of the mast with the help of the pole (metal part that performs the boom function for this sail), so that the wind enters the sail and pushes the boat forward.

When the wind blows from the side, the spinnaker is usually collected. However, in certain cases it can be used to get almost to what is called "through" (when the wind enters through the area through the ship), working in a similar way to the headsail.
