Southern Darfur (in English, French, etc. transcriptions: Janub Darfur, otherwise Ŷanub Darfur) is one of the 18 states of Sudan. It is one of the five states that make up the Darfur region in the west of the country. It has an area of 127,300 km² and an estimated population of 4,093,594 (2008). Nyala is the capital of the state.
