Socialist Party of Andalusia (2001-2011)
The Socialist Party of Andalusia (PSA) was a Spanish political party, with an Andalusian nationalist ideology. It was established in 2001 as a split from the Andalusian Party (PA) and was initially led by Pedro Pacheco, who at that time was mayor of Jerez de la Frontera. In 2011, after several years of working together, he decided to rejoin the PA.
History
His first elections were the municipal elections of 2003, in which he obtained almost 59,000 votes, obtaining a total of 55 councilors throughout Andalusia. In the regional elections of March 14, 2004, they obtained more than 42,000 votes, but no deputies, making them the sixth largest Andalusian political force. The PSA also participated in the 2004 European elections, within the People's Europe coalition, which obtained one MEP. In this coalition he participated together with other nationalist parties such as Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Chunta Aragonesista (CHA), Eusko Alkartasuna (EA) or Andecha Astur.
In the 2007 municipal elections the PSA increased the number of councilors until it obtained more than 60. In terms of number of votes, it obtained almost 50,000.
At the end of November 2007, the PSA and the PA decided to join forces again, and formed the Andalusian Coalition together with other smaller formations, a coalition created to run in the elections to the Parliament of Andalusia and the general elections. Spanish elections of March 9, 2008. Finally, the coalition did not obtain representation in the Parliament of Andalusia or in the Congress of Deputies, losing the 5 regional deputies that the PA retained.
In November 2008, the Third National Congress of the PSA was held in Chiclana de la Frontera, where the until then leader of the party, Pedro Pacheco, resigned to be a candidate for the general secretary. In his place, a collegiate leadership formed by Amalia Benavente, José Pérez, Juan Román and José Antonio Pino was elected, the latter being appointed spokesperson for said leadership.
In the European elections of June 2009, the PSA presented itself alone, although with the support of other political formations such as the Andalusian Nationalist Bloc (BNA) and Convergencia Andaluza. The results were better than those of 2004, obtaining 9,649 votes in Andalusia (0.37% in the autonomous community; the best results were in the province of Cádiz, with 0.85% of the votes) and more than 13,993 in Spain as a whole. However, they were not sufficient to obtain representation in the European Parliament.
On May 1, 2011 in an Extraordinary Congress, the PSA decided to join the Andalusian Party again. After this merger, Pedro Pacheco, the promoter of the PA-PSA breakup, split, founding his own party, Andalusian Platform - Citizen Forum, to run for mayor of Jerez de la Frontera and the Andalusian regional elections.
