Silver hairstyle

The combing of silver is a technique for working with this metal that was developed in the time of the Viceroyalty of Peru and that consists of brushing to clean minor irregularities on the surface, previously treated by weak acid medium.

In some cases with the combing the polishing is completed, leaving the surface with a non-reflective matt shine. When shine and reflection are desired, hand burnishing is done to give a smooth, mirror-like finish.

Currently, pieces with this style of working silver are still produced and it is highly sought after by those who come to do tourism in Peru.
