Shin'ichi Watanabe

Shin'ichi Watanabe (渡邊 慎一, Watanabe Shin'ichi^?, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, September 6, 1964), also known as Nabeshin (ナベシン), is an actor from voice and director of Japanese anime. Watanabe is best known for having directed Excel Saga and the OVAs for Puni Puni Poemi. In Excel Saga , he voiced the character of Nabeshin, an odd-looking man with afro hair, from whom Watanabe himself adopted numerous gadgets.

The nickname Nabeshin is a combination of his first name ("nabe" for Watanabe and "shin" for Shin'ichi). About Regarding his appearance (similar to the character in Arsène Lupine III), Watanabe commented that he grew out his afro and started wearing bright clothes to stand out and attract attention.

Career

Watanabe appeared in episode 32 of Hayate no Gotoku! as a special guest, and made a cameo appearance in the OVA series Nurse Witch Komugi. He also worked as a director on the 2006 Nippon Animation-produced series Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. He also appeared in chapter 7 of Nyan Koi!, in a scene as a bus driver.

He created and directed fourteen episodes of the series Dotto! Koni-Chan, as well as directing the OVAs for Gravitation. The script was in charge of Satoru Akahori and Masaharu Amiya, while the character design was done by Mitsuhiro Yoneda. The series takes place in chapters divided into 3 episodes of approximately 7 minutes, and the stories are usually different per episode, full of clichés, parodies and humorous situations of the most varied types.
