Shield of Arenas del Rey

The city council of Arenas del Rey, in the province of Granada, aware of the value that territorial symbols imply in delimiting, linking and identifying the community they represent, has deemed it appropriate to adopt its coat of arms and municipal flag, in order to perpetuate the most relevant and peculiar facts of its history.

In its upper part there is a globe with two intertwined hands, crowned with a phoenix, which recalls the solidarity received by Arenas del Rey when it was devastated by an earthquake in 1884, all superimposed on a silver-grey background that represents the abundance of water.
