Sexx Laws
"Sexx Laws" is a song by American musician Beck, included on his 1999 album, Midnite Vultures. It was published as the first single from the album, on October 25, 1999 through Geffen Records. Musically, the song is an unusual combination of funk brass instruments with a bluegrass-style banjo and alternative pedal steel guitar, with elements of electronic music and an instrumental interlude included. In 2014, NME listed the song at number 260 on the 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time list.
Music Video
The music video was directed by Beck himself and features American actor Jack Black, journalist Neil Strauss, musician Justin Meldal-Johnsen and producers Dust Brothers. The music video is a tribute to the 1969 film Mr. Freedom. Surreal elements of the video include a refrigerator keeping Humping dry with an oven, musician Kenny G (played by Meldal Johnsen) in a soccer players' room, and a mannequin with a zebra head spinning with a banjo. There are several versions of the video. The original (once posted on Beck's website) was over 18 minutes long and extended the men's circle introduction. Editing the versions after the introduction and conclusion, the last clipping is of a 'pep rally' speech, performed by Jack Black.
