Sevilla is a station on line 2 of the Madrid Metro located under Calle de Alcalá, at the junction with Calle de Sevilla, which gives the station its name.

History

It opened to the public on June 14, 1924 with the first section of line 2 (Sol-Ventas).

It was closed from April 23, 2018 to May 31, 2019 for a comprehensive remodeling, and then due to a line cut. The reform consisted of the modernization of the station completely, making it accessible to the public. To do this, the image of the lobby was changed to a more modern one, all the manholes were changed to a much wider one, located on the odd-numbered sidewalk of Calle Alcalá; and three elevators were installed. In addition, the toll barriers were replaced and fire protection systems were installed. The remodeling lasted just over a year, ending in May 2019, although the station did not open until June 1, 2019 due to an incident in the line.
