Seth Cohen

Sethelah Ezekiel Cohen, commonly called Seth, is a character played by Adam Brody in the series The OC.

Character Description

Seth is a 16-year-old teenager at the start of the series, residing in Newport Beach in Orange County (O.C.), California. Seth is a funny and sarcastic character. Son of Sandy Cohen, a Jew from the Bronx who works as a lawyer and Kirsten Cohen, from a wealthy Protestant family who has inherited his father's company and makes it go from strength to strength. Captain Oats, a plastic horse, is Seth's biggest confidante, along with his adoptive brother Ryan.

Seth quickly hits it off when his family brings home a troubled young man from the Chinese slum, Ryan Atwood (played by Benjamin McKenzie) who becomes his one and only best friend and brings him closer to the girl of his dreams, Summer, who was previously impossible given her lack of popularity at her high school.

First season

In the first season of the series Seth had two girlfriends, Anna Stern and Summer. Seth managed after many efforts to make Summer listen to him and notice him for the first time, but when they become friends and start a sweet friendship Seth decides to go out with Anna, who is a classmate of both. Summer is continually jealous of Anna, even trying to make a three-way friendship that didn't work out. Finally Anna breaks up with him when she realizes that he really loved Summer, what's more, both girls become close friends. Her relationship with Summer soon begins, and they both lose their virginity together, despite Summer's reputation as an experienced girl (largely thanks to her).

At the end of the first season, Seth has a depression over Ryan leaving for Chino. This makes Seth think that he has to fulfill the wish with which he opened the series, to sail to Tahiti using his small catamaran. He runs away from home and sets out, although in the second season, it is explained that after sailing to Santa Barbara, he sells his catamaran, leaves for Portland where his friend Luke resides and he welcomes him into his house for the whole summer, until Ryan goes looking for him and convinces him to return with him to Newport. There he will realize that his relationship with Summer is broken, since she is dating a new boy, and the adolescent entanglements will begin again.

Second season

Starting in episode 14 of the second season, Raining Day (rainy day), Seth resumes his relationship with Summer giving us a precious moment of American teenage love in its purest form and sealed by the kiss of " Spiderman " and " the little vamp ". But before in the second season Summer begins to go out with another boy Zack, who shares his love of comics with Seth, this leads them to create a comic character, they both thought of someone special for them and they agreed: Summer.

Seth is well known for his love of comics and video games.
