The Seijin no Hi (成人の日, Seijin no Hi?) is the day when Japanese people celebrate their majority old. Literally translated as "Adult Day".

Young people who turn 20 between April 2 of the previous year and April 1 of the current year are summoned to a ceremony in which the mayor informs them of the responsibilities they will have to face throughout their lives as Adults. Then they pray in the temples near their city. For the occasion, they wear their best kimonos and traditional costumes.

The seijin no hi has been official since 1948. From then until 1999 it was celebrated on January 15. Since the year 2000, when the law called "Happy Monday" was enacted, it takes place on the second Monday of January: depending on the year it will fall between January 8 and 14.

In 2022, the celebration contemplates a majority of age for young people who turn 18 years old. And for this particular year, the celebration contemplates those who turn 18, 19 and 20 years old.
