Schellenberg Municipality
Schellenberg is a municipality in the principality of Liechtenstein. Schellenberg is the municipality with the lowest altitude in Liechtenstein, and is located on the banks of the Rhine. It is also the smallest municipality in area in the entire principality. The municipality is bordered to the northeast and east by Feldkirch (AT-8), to the south by Mauren, Eschen and Gamprin, and to the west by Ruggell.
History
The area was first inhabited by the Celts and later by the Rhaetians. Rome conquered the area in 15 B.C. C., making it part of the province of Recia. The province would later become a county under the regency of Charlemagne. The county was progressively divided due to inheritance from father to son.
The Lordship of Schellenberg was purchased by the Counts of Vaduz in 1437 and the two have remained united in practice ever since. After the Swabian War in 1499, both fell under Austrian feudal suzerainty. Several dynasties of counts have bought and sold these territories, until at the beginning of the 18th century they were bought by the House of Liechtenstein, which had received the recognition of princely in 1706, but needed to acquire a territory near the head of the empire to be able to participate in the voting of the Princes of the Empire. The Emperor formally united the territories of Vaduz and Schellenberg in 1719.

Communications
The most used means of transport is the train, since the nearest station is in Ruggell, to the north of the municipality. Another means of transport is the bicycle, since Schellenberg is the flattest place in the whole country. The bus is used to cover long distances, such as going from here to Vaduz. The least used is the car, so the streets are usually deserted.
Sports
Although there is no soccer club in Schellenberg, much of the town supports FC Ruggell from the neighboring municipality. Among other sports, water sports stand out, such as swimming, rowing, canoeing and jumping. Other numerous sports are cycling (in Schellenberg there is a race every year called Schellenberg's Competition), tennis and handball.
