Sanji
Sanji (サンジ, Sanji ?), born Vinsmoke Sanji (ヴィンスモーク サンジ, Vinsmoke Sanji?), is a character from the Japanese manga series One Piece. He is the cook for the Straw Hat Pirates. He was the fifth member to join the crew. His dream is to find the legendary All Blue sea. He is the only crew member to come from the North Blue.
Appearance
Sanji is a tall (measuring 1'77cm at the start of the series and 1'80cm after the timeskip) and thin man. Before the timeskip he had his left eye permanently hidden by his blond hair, and showing one eyebrow that spiraled to the side of his ear. After the two-year timeskip, Sanji covers his right eye and shows his left eye, the eyebrow on that side spiraling to the side of his nose. Initially he had a small goatee, after the timeskip he grew a thicker goatee and some mustache on his upper lip.
He usually dresses in quite elegant suits, with a jacket, shirt, tie, long pants and perfectly structured shoes, usually black, except for the shirt that is changed color casually. But he is also capable of wearing other outfits depending on whether the climate or environment of the islands they visit requires it.
Personality
Sanji is the cook for Monkey D. Luffy's crew. His dream is to find the & # 34; All Blue & # 34;, the sea where all the species of fish of the four seas are found, and it is the paradise for any cook.
Like Zoro, Sanji is much more perceptive than he appears and seems to pick up on things about situations that other of his teammates miss. He is not afraid to show his emotions as soon as he feels them and is capable of crying or losing his mind at any moment, even offering his own life to save his captain.
He is an inveterate womanizer and pervert who constantly flirts with any beautiful woman he sees. Because of this, Zoro has given him various titles such as "Perverted Cook" or "Mr. Nosebleed" (After timeskip) He even has a tendency to woo a woman regardless of whether she is married, has openly rejected him, or is hostile towards him. Upon meeting Nami, he falls madly in love with her and upon meeting Nico Robin on her ship, he immediately accepted her. He was actually the first member to accept Robin (after Luffy). Despite this, Sanji is a gallant, as he possesses a strong sense of chivalry, which prevents him from hitting a woman despite her even if she is an enemy of the crew. Also, although he never admits it, he has great respect for his mentor Zeff and loves him like a father. This can be seen mostly during his stay at Restaurant Baratie, where he did not hesitate to hit anyone who insulted or badmouthed Zeff.
A peculiarity of Sanji is his fondness for tobacco, since it is difficult to see him without a cigarette in his mouth while his favorite drink is wine: just like Luffy drinks soda and Zoro drinks Sake, Sanji is a lover of wine of first quality and he has never been seen drinking any other type of drink.
Sanji is an egocentric who considers himself handsome, good-looking, and charming, often comparing himself to a prince from a fairy tale. So far he has not met any woman who agrees with him and is usually brought back to reality by the more realistic people around him. He usually speaks in a somewhat rude language and nicknames everything with insults, making him a rather peculiar character when it comes to language.
One of his most notable traits is the meticulousness with which he prepares his food. Since food is essential to existence, Sanji thinks that a chef's job is sacred and scolds or beats up anyone who wastes food, steals it, or plays with it. In his childhood, when he was a waiter in a ship's galley, his pride and narcissism also showed; even though he was only an apprentice he saw himself as a great chef and as the rest of the staff shared among themselves the luxurious food left over from the banquets Sanji avoided it and demanded that it be disposed of as garbage even if it hadn't been touched already. who claimed that being a great chef it was demeaning for him to eat leftovers, but after surviving almost three months of starvation with Zeff he would develop an appreciation and respect for food and its preparation, no longer seeing it as a luxury and appreciating it as a necessity and pleasure that must be attended with care.
Relationships
Crew
Sanji respects Luffy as captain, but many times he gets angry with him for eating too much, for his lack of hygiene in the dining room or for wanting to eat the dishes that he makes especially for Nami, he doesn't like it when Luffy imitates him either, even so, he respects him as a leader and captain. He is constantly fighting both physically and verbally with Zoro (who continually calls him "Ero-Cook", and Sanji calls Zoro "Marimo-san" (since Marimo is a moss colored green, a reference to Zoro's hair color), despite all their differences, each respects the other for their fighting skills and have developed a rivalry in that regard. When fighting together against a common enemy, they are virtually invincible. However, despite their fights and continuous friction, both form a powerful duo when it comes to fighting enemies.
He is quite protective of the female crew members, which causes Nami to sometimes take advantage of this fact. Robin doesn't usually actively take advantage of him, but he gets the same loving treatment nonetheless. She gets along with Usopp quite well, though she occasionally hits him, Brook, and Luffy for imitating him or not acting mature. Sanji at first wanted to cook Chopper, and is sometimes referred to as "Emergency Food" by Sanji. to annoy him. However, he considers Chopper a great friend and advises him and Usopp when they need it. He often gets mad at Brook for his bad habits with women, but they get along when it comes to women. Simply put, he cares about his crew the same way every Straw Hat Pirate does.
Friends
Sanji had a habit of making everyone angry at the Baratie, however he was on good terms with everyone and cried as much as his fellow cooks when he left to follow his dreams. The Baratie team have been keeping abreast of Sanji's actions and ever since he became a wanted man, they use his wanted poster to advertise themselves as "the home of Black Leg Sanji ". & # 3. 4;.
Duval initially hated Sanji due to his resemblance to the picture spoken on the cook's wanted poster, which had caused sailors and bounty hunters to go after him. However, after his defeat against him, Duval became his friend as Sanji fixed his face and made him handsome. Now Duval calls Sanji "Young Master" and her help was crucial in rescuing Camie when she was kidnapped and was going to be sold into slavery.
When Sanji arrived on Okama Island by Bartholomew Kuma, he hated the Okamas being chased by them all over the island to turn him into an Okama, there he met Emporio Ivankov, with whom he had some friction at first since Ivankov believed him to be a A government spy even after Sanji explained that he is a member of Monkey D. Luffy's crew, he still helped Sanji with his two-year training. After finishing their training, all the Okamas said goodbye to him, wishing that he would visit them in the future, but Sanji would make it clear that he would never return.
Enemies
Sanji has supposedly made numerous enemies (particularly during his stay in the Baratie). Fullbody especially has a vendetta sworn against him for the humiliation he suffered in the restaurant. In Thriller Bark held great contempt for Absalom because he ate a Devil Fruit that makes him invisible, which he would have liked so he could spy on women in showers. Like all the Straw Hats, his enemies are the Navy, the World Government, other pirates, and bounty hunters.
Skills
Apart from his fighting skills, it's worth mentioning that Sanji is an exceptional cook, able to prepare a wide variety of dishes, even with wild animals or fish.
Normally Sanji faces powerful opponents that use hand-to-hand combat techniques such as jabra(CP9) using his new technique "Diable Jambe" or Mr.2(Baroque Works) who normally defeat Usopp first and Sanji saves him.
Sanji is considered one of the three main fighters in his crew and they are called "The Monster Trio" and he owns the fourth highest bounty of his crew (1.032 million berries), second only to Jimbe's 1.1 billion berries, and zoro's 1.111 million and Luffy's 3 billion. Sanji has perfected the martial art of Red Leg Zeff who taught him how to fight. All of his attacks (except one) are made using his legs and feet. His lower limbs are extremely powerful and are capable of destroying walls and defeating enemies much larger than himself. His legs also give him superior speed and agility, with him being able to run much faster than most humans. Sanji has said that the reason why he fights with his legs is to not harm his hands, since he needs them for cooking and they are the sacred tool for a cook. This fictional martial art appears to be inspired by capoeira, taekwondo, and savate, all of which are fighting styles that rely almost exclusively on the feet.
All the names of Sanji's attacks are based on cooking dishes (especially French), or the way a waiter serves a customer.
Sanji is capable of changing a person's face with his kicks, turning them into more handsome people, as is the case with Wanze and Duval.
In addition to being one of the heavyweights of the crew during a fight, Sanji can be a terrific tactician if needed. Evidence of this is given in the Baroque Works saga, where he was able to trick Crocodile into thinking he was Mr. 3 and made him believe that the Luffy Pirates had died in Little Garden, he also called himself "Mr. Prince" during his plan to rescue his crew who were being held prisoner in the Rain Dinners casino in Alabasta. His skills in this area are shown again in the Enies Lobby Saga, where he managed to learn Robin's whereabouts and also chose to fight on the roof of the train so that Sogeking would have a clear line of fire. His tactical skills surfaced again when he closed the Gates of Justice, giving his crew a chance to escape Buster Call.
He is an excellent user of the Houchou Sabaki knife-wielding style and used it as a weapon inside Umi Ressha to defeat Wanze's Ramen kenpo fukumen spank, after From this he alleges that a knife is not a sword and that it should not be used to cut people, so he has not been seen using that technique again.
He also has great power to launch his teammates against other opponents, using a technique called Armée de l'Air. Depending on who it casts, the technique will have a different name at the end. For example, if he throws Luffy it will be Gomu Shot; Zoro, Power Shot and Chopper, Rozeo Shot. In the seventh film he used Hana Shot, launching a cannonball that Usopp had previously launched from the Going Merry, and in the Thriller Bark saga he used Robo Shot on Franky, although this attack was filler, since it does not exist in the manga..
It can be added as a skill that he can feel when a woman from the crew is hit, he immediately runs to save her as was the case with Nami on the underwater Island where he fell due to a Wave Blow, Sanji runs to fight directly against Wadatsumi who was the one who caused it. A skill is perhaps the motivation in the Thriller Bark saga when it is revealed to him that Nami has been kidnapped he goes on fire with rage. And the more they revealed information about what happened to Nami, the more and more he was engulfed in flames to the point that his flame reached several hundred meters, this made Sanji enraged to such an extent that he left his companions lying down to jump. a precipice engulfed in flames of anger.
Recently in the fight against the New Sun Pirates it can be seen that he has learned two Geppo-like techniques (a CP9 technique) called Skywalk and the Blue Walk which makes him swim at a speed comparable to that of a Triton, both techniques he learned while fleeing from the Okamas in the Kamabakka kingdom.
Diable Jambe
Aside from the Red Leg style, during the incident in Enies Lobby, Sanji demonstrated a new attack called Diable Jambe (French: "Devil's Leg", although the kanji may It can also be interpreted as Devil's Wind), which consists of spinning at high speed on one of its legs to the point that it turns it red hot due to friction. In this mode everything he hits with his leg will instantly receive, apart from the force of the kick, an intense burn. Sanji used this ability in his fight against Jabura, in which his attacks were not as effective due to Tekkai (CP9's defensive technique that consists of turning the body as hard as steel. With the heat of this new ability, Sanji surpassed his inability to break the Tekkai burning Jyabura in addition to the powerful kick.
The ultimate technique for this mode is called "Diable Jambe: Flambage Shot" which consists of, in addition to the kick, a spin effect when hitting. Sanji strikes the enemy on the head with his flaming leg while they are both in the air.
The second time he was seen using this technique was during the fight against Gecko Moria and Oz, in which he used a technique from Diamble Jambe called "Diable Jambe: Extra Haché" which served to get Gecko Moria away from Robin and then he used "Diable Jambe: Frit Assortie" to avoid the "Gommu Gommu no Bazooka" of Oz. The last time we saw him in action in the anime, it was in his fight with the whole gang against the Pacifista PX-4, which he used in a combined attack with Luffy and Zoro called the "Mouton Jet Roppyaku Pondo Cannon". 3. 4;.
However, Sanji cannot perform this technique for very long, not even multiple times. The defect that he has is precisely that if he performs it several times, Sanji runs the risk of breaking a leg, because it will not withstand the pressure to which it is subjected.
In the manga it is shown how, two years later, Sanji is able to use his Diable Jambe without needing to spin around to rub his leg so that it gets hot, and he can even do this technique underwater. Even so, TOEI Animation insists on making Sanji spin around to rub his leg even underwater, where there is no surface to do so. Sanji shows off his Diable Jambe: Bien Cuit Grill Shot and his Diable Jambe: Poêle à Frire Spectre. He can also use this technique in the air while using Geppou (one of the Rokushiki skill techniques used by CP9 as well).
Recently in the manga, Sanji can be engulfed in flames to further increase his destructive power, reminiscent of his training place which according to him "was hell" Being chased by the Okamas, his attack is called Hell Memories, in which he defeats Wadatsumi who ends up engulfed in flames.
According to Eichiro Oda, Sanji can withstand the heat of his technique because he is a Chef who spends a lot of time in the kitchen and since his legs are always at the height of the ovens Sanji has acquired a resistance to heat.
Sky Walk (Time Skip)
It is said that Sanji was on an Island of Okamas and was trained by the King/ina called One Piece Character / IvanKov of the Okamas on Pink Island. There, after running away from the Okamas day and night, he got a new technique called Sky Walk, which is seen for the first time on Fishman Island, this technique consists of flying through the air at high speed, it is seen for the first time in Ennies Lobby and the character that uses it is Robb Lucci from (CP9).
Ifrit Jambe
Recently In the Manga it was revealed that Sanji originally belonged to a family of criminals from Norte Blue called the Germa 66, His father Vinsmoke Jubge genetically modified Sanji and his brothers so that they had superhuman abilities and lack of emotions, However Sanji he was the only one who did not succumb to the modifications (thanks to his mother's intervention). During the battle of Onigashima, especially during his fight with Queen, he began to feel the effects of the modifications due in part to wearing his Raid Suit, (battle suit used by the Vinsmoke family), so Sanji was forced to destroy it.. During the final fight with Queen, Sanji displays his new ability called "Ifrit Jambe", whose technique combines the toughness of his exoskeleton and his perfected Busoshoku Haki, and the temperature of his Diable Jambe, with which it was enough to finish off Queen. He is similar to Diable Jambe but the fire is a light blue color as shown in the manga.
History
Past
When he was still a boy, Sanji was working as an apprentice cook on a luxury ship, when he was boarded by the terrible crew of Captain Zeff 'Red Leg'. During the boarding, Sanji fell into the water, losing consciousness; he was rescued by Zeff because young Sanji shared his dream of finding All Blue. Upon regaining consciousness, Sanji awakens on a rocky island with Zeff, who informs him that both ships were swallowed by the storm. Zeff gives Sanji a sack of food and Sanji rebukes Zeff for having a bigger sack to which he replies that he needs more food because he is older. Zeff, who did not wish to die, breaks his leg on a stone and eats it (in the anime, he breaks it to save Sanji from the sea). After five days on the island, a ship surrounds it and Sanji waves to it, but ends up watching it leave. After 70 days, Sanji goes to see the old man and sees that he had his bag still full, but then he realizes that there was gold inside him and that could not save him. Also, Zeff is missing his right leg, replying that he has eaten it to help him so that, in the near future, he will go to the Grand Line and find the All Blue . Zeff comes up with the idea for a restaurant; Sanji supports him and asks him not to die. After 85 days, they are both found dying and picked up by a ship, later they set up the first restaurant in the eastern sea called Baratie.
Meeting Luffy
Sanji first appears in the series, when Luffy arrives at the Baratie Restaurant, the floating restaurant where Sanji worked as a cook, while the rest of the crew continued on the Going Merry. Fullbody, a guest at the restaurant, tries to flaunt his gallantry and is cut off by Sanji, who makes a fool of himself in front of his date. Fullbody manages to get a fly into his soup and asks Sanji what the fly is doing there, to which Sanji replies that he doesn't know anything about bugs. This provokes the ire of Fullbody, who destroys the table and throws all the food down. Sanji then leaves him badly injured for having insulted a sea cook.
Luffy, who, seeing one of Zoro's friends sick with scurvy, had understood the importance of having a cook in the crew and being well fed, decides that Sanji should be one of his crew members and the cook of his ship. However, he does not pay attention to his ideas since he does not take Luffy seriously and his desire is to continue working with Zeff.
After the Baratie, a man arrives sick from not having eaten anything, named Gin. He is immediately recognized by his companions for being the right hand of Don Krieg, a powerful and feared pirate. Although no one gives him food, Sanji shows the more sensitive side of him and even though it meant danger, he gave Gin food. He thanks him for the gesture and leaves the place, to later bring Don Krieg, to try to seize the Baratie. Krieg puts the demands on him and asks Zeff to give him food for all of his crew. Zeff knew that his restaurant was in danger, but with Sanji's same vision, he would not leave that crew hungry.
Shortly thereafter, the Shichibukai Mihawk would arrive and destroy Don Krieg's fleet. He would try to seize the Baratie as his new ship. Sanji is enraged and watches as Krieg taunts Zeff. Immediately, Krieg sends to face one of his most dangerous subordinates: Pearl. Sanji tries to fight him (revealing his fighting form: feet only), but finds himself in danger and about to die. Gin then steps in and surprisingly defeats Pearl, but offers to take down Sanji as well, so the two start fighting.
The fight between Gin and Sanji starts very close, but soon Gin gets the upper hand. Sanji manages to put the balance in the middle and manages to give Gin a big kick in the neck that leaves him stunned. Gin continues fighting and manages to defeat Sanji, but when he is about to kill him, he regrets what he did to him earlier.
The latter angers Krieg, who sends his MH5 bomb to finish them off with poison gas. Gin offers his gas mask to Sanji, but the poison affects him. Luffy, furious at seeing all this, offers to finish off Don Krieg. After a hard fight between him and Krieg, Luffy finally ridicules Krieg and defeats him.
After Luffy's victory over Don Krieg, Sanji decides to accompany Luffy on his adventure to become King of the Pirates, after hearing Zeff say that he wanted him to go to the Grand Line, since his dream was there. So Sanji takes the position of cook in Luffy's crew. The reason why he joined Luffy is because he wants to find the legendary All Blue sea.
At Arlong Park
After joining Luffy's crew, Sanji and Luffy head towards Arlong Park, as Nami had stolen the ship and betrayed them. During the journey, Sanji and Luffy defeat Moh-Moh and use him to get there faster.
After Nami asks Luffy for help, they head towards where Arlong is and Sanji's opponent is the merman Kurobi, who causes him difficulties in the water. But leaving this Sanji attacks him with a series of kicks for having mocked his chivalry. Sanji attacks him with his & # 34; Mutton Shot & # 34;, which completely destroys him and ends by saying that a fish would never beat a cook. He would try to stop Arlong, but is defeated by him and it is then that he realizes that Luffy is the only one capable of defeating him. He jumps back into the pond, evading Hatchan's futile attempt to finish him off, and breaks through the foundation Luffy was trapped in. Now released, he only remains as a spectator of Arlong's defeat at the hands of an enraged Luffy.
Baroque Works
After Arlong's defeat, Sanji and the others make it to the Grand Line, where they meet two strange people. One of which turns out to be Princess Nefertari Vivi, who (after an incident in a town called Whiskey Peak) needs to be taken to her kingdom Alabasta, as she is in grave danger of a coup due to a criminal organization called the Baroque Works led by by the Shichibukai Crocodile.
The crew agrees and they continue traveling in the direction of Alabasta. On the way they come to an island called Little Garden, where Sanji challenges Zoro to a hunting contest. While the others were fighting against a Baroque Works agent named Mr.3, Sanji finds a hidden house in the woods where he receives a strange call from Crocodile whom he tricks into thinking he was Mr. 3. Straw, everyone goes on their way until Nami falls seriously ill. After they find an island called Drum and start looking for a doctor, Sanji accompanies Luffy (who was carrying Nami) to climb the mountain on top of which lived the only female doctor on the Island..
With Wapol defeated and Nami healed, Luffy asks Chopper if he wanted to join the crew and Chopper agrees. The crew then continues on its way to Arabasta to prevent the fall of the kingdom.
Alabasta
Sanji and the others arrive in Alabasta, anchor the ship off the coast, and head out into the country in search of Crocodile. They eventually arrive at a city called Rain Base, where Luffy and the others (minus Sanji and Chopper) are captured by Crocodile.
Learning that Crocodile had the crew trapped, Sanji (using his nickname "Mr. Prince") sets a trap for Crocodile, using Chopper as a decoy, while he rescues the crew. Mr. 3 is defeated again, this time by Sanji on the way.
During the final battle, Sanji's main opponent is Mr 2 Bon Kure, who uses his ability to turn into Nami and take advantage of Sanji's weakness towards women. Sanji understands that Bon Kure cannot use his Ballet Kenpo turned into Nami and attacks him at just the right time. After numerous punches and kicks Sanji uses his "Veau Shot", which kills Bon Kure.
Skypiea
Sanji has little input into this part of the story. He and the crew arrive on Skypiea and meet Conis, who tells them of Enel's tyranny. After Nami, Zoro, Robin, and Chopper are brought to the sacrificial altar, he leaves with Usopp and Luffy for the Upper Yard (the sacred land where God Enel lived) to rescue them all. On the way, they meet Satori, one of Enel's priests, and they defeat him after a brief fight. When they find the others and agree on a plan of action, Sanji, Nami, Usopp, Gan Fall and Pierre take the Merry to the coast to wait for the other group (led by Luffy) to return with the gold.. However, Enel unexpectedly appears on the ship and quickly defeats Sanji using his Devil Fruit powers.
Sanji regains consciousness much later but just at the necessary moment when Enel was taking Nami away in his ark. Sanji and Usopp quickly make a plan and break into the Maxim Ark, where they manage to rescue Nami, but once again, Sanji is struck down by Enel.
Later and with Enel defeated, he accompanies Luffy to get some gold and during his escape from Skypiea he said goodbye crying to Conis and his father.
The Blue Sea Again
After returning from heaven, Sanji and the others arrive on an island called Long Ring Long Land where they are challenged by Foxy the Silver Fox to a game called Davy Back Fight in which it is played for win people from the opposing crew. Sanji participates in the second round, along with Zoro. The game called Groggy Ring, which consists of putting the opposing player-ball into the goal and scoring a goal, is won by the duo Sanji and Zoro and thus they manage to recover Chopper who had been acquired in the previous round. The third round of the Davy Back Fight was the fight between Luffy and Foxy, which Sanji witnessed along with Nami, Robin, Zoro, Chopper, and Usopp.
Shortly after the end of the Davy Back Fight and Luffy's victory over Foxy, while still in Long Ring Long Land next to an old local's house, they meet Admiral Aokiji. Aokiji tells them Robin's dark story, and quickly begins fighting the Straw Hats. Sanji tries to hit the admiral but he freezes his leg. Luffy asks him and Zoro to let him fight the admiral alone; Sanji and Zoro agree and go to the ship to take care of Robin, who had been completely frozen by Aokiji.
Robin and Luffy (who had been defeated by the admiral) recover and the crew make their way across the sea, where they find a gigantic frog swimming on a crawl and meet the station operator. on duty for the Sea Train, who gives them the way to the city of Water 7, as the Straw Hats were looking for a carpenter to join the crew and compose the Going Merry.
Water 7
After an incident in which a gang known as the Franky Family steals Usopp's money from Skypiea, Sanji, Zoro, Chopper and Luffy go to the Franky House to take revenge for what they did to him. They made Usopp. Once in the Franky House, they defeat all its occupants and since they destroyed the building, Luffy tells them that he has decided to change ships. Concerned that Robin had left and not returned for a long time, Sanji witnesses the fight between Luffy and Usopp (as Usopp had resigned from the crew due to Luffy's decision to change ships) which would inevitably lead to Usopp's separation. and the abandonment of the Going Merry. The next day, with Robin still missing, Sanji and the others learn that they are charged with the attempted murder of the mayor of Water 7 and owner of the Galley-La shipwright company, Iceburg. Concerned for Robin's well-being, he goes out with Chopper to look for her and after indirectly warning Usopp about the dangerous storm Aqua Laguna, they find Robin, who tells them that he is not coming back and that he has left the crew. Sanji decides that Robin was lying and tells Chopper to go back to the others as he has a plan and then he will see them. Chopper returns to Luffy and the others with the dire news. Luffy proposes to break into Galley-La's mansion to clear things up. During the raid, the crew learns of Robin's conspiracy and that she is willing to sacrifice herself so that the Straw Hats can safely get out of town. Robin is taken on the Sea Train then to Judicial Island Enies Lobby , from where she will be sent to prison.
The crew decides they're going to rescue her, and everyone (except Sanji) sets out to find her. Meanwhile, Sanji has tracked down Robin's whereabouts and arrives just in time to see her being herded onto the Sea Train that would take her to Enies Lobby (she also sees Usopp and Franky being taken away by government agents). He then infiltrates the Sea Train, where Robin is taken, as it is about to depart. After defeating some agents and sailors, Sanji finds Usopp and Franky, whom he frees and tells the situation. The three continue through the train carriages in order to retrieve Robin, but are confronted by CP7 agent Wanze, who then starts a fight with Sanji. During a curious and funny fight, Sanji defeats Wanze, Franky defeats Nero and Usopp (as Sogeking) secretly arrives at the car where Robin was.
Finally, Sanji and the others make it to the car where CP9 was, but Robin tells them that he doesn't want them to be saved. Sogeking manages to throw a smoke bomb that gives them the opportunity to take Robin and unhook the trucks to escape. However, Robin attacks them and then Agent Blueno using his Devil Fruit powers comes to the wagon to defeat Sanji and take Robin away. Franky had tried to stall for time, but was caught too.
Enies Lobby
In Enies Lobby, Sanji originally meets Caliph, who takes advantage of the situation where Sanji couldn't hit a woman, due to his chivalry. Sanji even tried to invite Califa for tea, which she accepted, but Sanji understands that she must take the key from her. Califa is not intimidated, and although Sanji is about to defeat her, Sanji simply cannot do it and lets himself be defeated by a Golden Awa from CP9. Finally Nami scolds him for letting himself be beaten so easily and immediately, she starts the fight. Sanji, meanwhile, was left drained of his strength and unconscious of her.
During Nami's fight against Califa, Sanji falls on a huge bathtub that allows him to break free of Califa's devil fruit spell. Recovered, Sanji arrives in time to stop CP9 member Jabra from killing Usopp, telling him that he will take care of the situation, while Usopp went to rescue Robin. Sanji begins to fight Jabra and Jabra gives him trouble using Tekkai Kempo, but Sanji manages to hit him regardless. Jabra, seeing himself defeated, resorts to a useless strategy: trying to deceive him, saying that Robin is his sister, throwing the key at him. Jabra tells a false story of how Robin was captured. For a moment, Sanji believes the lie, but in reality he was only pretending to land another blow on Jabra. He gets enraged and tries to use Tekkai Kempo but Sanji manages to steal the key from him. Jabra does not give up and manages to deal some devastating blows to Sanji. CP9 then begins to taunt Robin and Sanji's futile attempts to save her.
Sanji is furious and tells Jabra that the time to taunt him is over and reveals that it is his turn. Immediately, Sanji begins to turn on his right leg violently. Jabra thinks Sanji is taunting him and prepares a Jusshigan for him, but then Sanji stops and reveals that his leg is so hot, it's red hot. This state is baptized by Sanji as Diable Jambe. Jabra can't believe his eyes and Sanji kicks him; Jabra tries to defend himself with a Tekkai but this is useless and he receives the kick squarely. Sanji prepares his final attack, but Jabra dodges it and hits him square with the Jusshigan. But Sanji, taking advantage of the fact that Jabra was busy trying to throw it, delivers the final blow: Diable Jambe: Flambage Shot.
Back to Water 7
Sailing aboard the Going Merry, they all manage to safely escape Enies Lobby and elude the Buster Call. However, following the escape, Iceburg arrives aboard a Galley-La ship just in time to pick up the Straw Hats, as the Going Merry suddenly splits in two. Luffy and the others give the ship a Viking funeral and sadly say goodbye.
Sanji cooked during the party at Water 7 hosted by the Straw Hats and their allies. Later, Sanji receives his first bounty of 77,000,000 berries and is named 'Black Leg', but his wanted poster is a poor drawing as the navy photographer was unable to get a photo. yours for forgetting to remove the camera cover. This annoyed Sanji terribly, as he wanted to be rewarded with a good photo for the girls to admire.
Afterwards, Sanji helped defend his new ship, the Thousand Sunny (designed by Franky) from Garp's attack.
Thriller Bark Assault
After sailing for some time on the Thousand Sunny, Sanji and the rest of the crew found a mysterious barrel floating in the sea. After opening it, and a flare shooting out of it, they mysteriously enter a bank of fog where they come across a gigantic and battered ghost ship.
Sanji, Nami, and Luffy went to investigate the ghost ship, where they find a living skeleton named Brook. Luffy asks Brook if he wants to join his crew, to which he quickly agrees. This left Nami and Sanji speechless. After learning Brook's story and being trapped in the Thriller Bark, Sanji and the rest of the crew decide to go in search of Nami, Usopp and Chopper who had taken a ride in the Mini-Merry 2 and had not returned yet. However, before they can even get off the ship, they are attacked by an invisible thing, which stops Sanji as he is jumping off the ship and slams him against the sides of the ship. The thing goes away after a moment.
Moments after the ship is caught in a gigantic net, Sanji and the others go down to the island and start looking for Nami, Usopp and Chopper. After defeating some zombies, his group finds an old man who looks like a zombie, who asks them to defeat the one who stole their shadows, the Shichibukai Gecko Moria. They eventually find a castle where they begin to explore and after a brief fight, Sanji mysteriously disappears. The rest of the crew find him a long time later on the Thousand Sunny, along with Zoro and Luffy who had also disappeared). After learning her shadow had been stolen (and Zoro and Luffy's), Sanji reaches the highest peaks of anger when he finds out that Nami had been kidnapped by the invisible thing, who wanted to marry her. After another burst of rage upon learning that the Invisible Thing had seen Nami naked, Sanji quickly goes looking for the navigator and finds Absalom (the Invisible Thing) just in time to prevent the wedding. Sanji quickly defeats Absalom.
Sanji joins the other Straw Hats (minus Nami and Luffy) to fight Oars. During the attack, Moria enters Oz's body and begins to cause the pirates a lot of trouble, that's when Moria, in a clever move, steals Robin's shadow. A furious Sanji uses his Diable Jambe to deflect a blow from the gigantic Oars from hitting Robin. He is then defeated along with Chopper by Oars' Gomu Gomu no Gatling Gun. Circumstances turn against the crew and Moria defeats them all using Oars.
However, Luffy finally makes it to the fight using his new power gained from absorbing 100 shadows. This incredible increase in power allows Luffy to defeat Oz, but Moria manages to get the upper hand and begins fighting Luffy. Moria uses her best attack, Shadow Asgard to finish off Luffy, but Luffy counters using the combined Gears to finally defeat Moria and take back everyone's shadows. Nami then remembers that another Shichibukai, Bartholomew Kuma, is also on the island and warns everyone of the situation. Although he does it a little late because Kuma was already watching them while he gave the report to the government about the Straw Hats defeating Moria. Kuma is ordered to annihilate all witnesses to avoid rumors of the same pirate defeating two different Shichibukai. However, instead of killing everyone (which he certainly could have done, considering his insane power), Kuma offers them a deal: let him kill Luffy and he'll leave them alone. The Straw Hats forcefully fend off Kuma, who calmly detonates the entire island. However, before Kuma can kill Luffy (who was unconscious), Zoro gets up again and attacks Kuma telling him that he won't let him touch Luffy. Zoro offers Kuma to kill him instead of Luffy, when the Shichibukai agrees, Sanji stands up and tells Zoro that he will take his place; but Zoro knocks him out and receives Kuma's attack.
Shortly thereafter, Sanji joins the celebration at Thriller Bark (except for Zoro, who was severely injured from his duel against Kuma) harmonized by Brook's piano. When Brook is finally accepted into the crew, Sanji is shocked, but quickly cheers for the new partner.
The Duval Tragedy
After leaving Thriller Bark, Sanji becomes very eager to get to Fishman Island quickly, particularly due to comments made by people at Thriller Bark about the existence of mermaids in that area. Excited, Sanji reaches the climax of happiness, when the Straw Hats rescue a mermaid named Camie upon arrival at the Red Line. Camie immediately asks them to help her rescue her friend Hatchan from the clutches of the slave trader Duval. Although Sanji initially thought it was a good chance to spend time with a mermaid, the experience soon turns into a nightmare for him.
Just as they arrive at the base of the gang called the Flying Fish Riders, to rescue Hatchan, Sanji begins to learn of Duval's dark conspiracy against him. Duval wanted to kill Sanji because the drawing on Sanji's wanted poster was almost the same as Duval's face, which had caused bounty hunters and sailors to chase him. Terribly annoyed by such a nonsense, Sanji begins to fight Duval and finally fixes his face (by kicking), which Duval is pleased with and becomes friends with, as he had made him unusually handsome.
Sabaody Archipelago
After Duval leaves happily, Sanji and the crew arrive at the Sabaody Archipelago in search of the engineer who is to fit out their ship for their voyage to Fishman Island. Sanji, Usopp, and Franky remain on the ship, when Sanji receives an urgent call from Chopper saying that Camie has been kidnapped. Quickly, Sanji calls for Duval and the Flying Fish Ryders to help search for her. Soon, and thanks to Duval's intervention, they find Camie at an Auction House where they sell people into slavery. Camie is auctioned off and bought by the World Noble Charloss Sei, but after an incident, Luffy beats him up and they finally rescue Camie, thanks to the intervention of Sylvers Rayleigh.
The act of beating a noble is punished by an Admiral, so they quickly leave the auction house, but are intercepted by the marines. After defeating them, Sanji and the others come across what appears to be Bartholomew Kuma, and they immediately start a fight. He and the entire crew face off against a "Kuma Pacifista" (a copy of the original Bartholomew Kuma) and finally Luffy defeats him.
Despite this, Admiral Kizaru, his subordinate Sentoumaru and another Pacifista Kuma appear on the scene forcing the Straw Hat gang to flee separated into three groups. Sanji escapes with Nami and Franky, but then Kizaru attacks and leaves Zoro badly injured. When the admiral prepares to finish off the swordsman, he is saved by Silvers Raileigh. Ussop and Brook try to escape with Zoro in tow but the Kuma Pacifista intercepts them. Sanji leaves Nami and Franky to face him. The Pacifista Kuma knocks Brook down and when he goes to do the same with Ussop and Zoro, Sanji gives him a brutal kick. Despite this, Sanji confesses to himself that he is exhausted and that he cannot land one more blow without breaking his leg.
The battle is ultimately interrupted by the appearance of the real Bartholomew Kuma. Who quickly takes care of Zoro, making him disappear with his powers. The Pacifista launches a series of energy beams that go through Usopp and Sanji, leaving them badly injured.
As the Pacifista goes to eliminate Sanji, Brook, and Usopp, he is vanished by Bartholomew Kuma, who immediately vanishes Brook as well. A furious Sanji launches the attack but fails to do anything to him and ends up being disappeared by Kuma after he also vanished Usopp.
Kamabakka Kingdom
By the power of Kuma, Sanji has landed on the Kamabakka Kingdom's island of Momoiro, where the land is pink and occupied by Okamas (both animal and human). Sanji was seen running away in horror from a group of okama following him asking if he was "one of them". They chased him across the beach and through the castle. Later, it seems that somehow the okama caught up with Sanji and forced him to be 'one of them'. Sanji is seen in a frilly dress, with a curly wig, high-heeled shoes, and thick makeup cavorting like cross-dressers. The veins in his head and arm suggest that this may all be against his will, but Oda has yet to reveal the details of Sanji's situation.
Sanji was seen again in his old self while trying to convince Ivankov that he is part of Luffy's crew. Ivankov doesn't believe Sanji because of his badly drawn wanted poster. Ivankov also states that he will refuse to tell Sanji anything about Luffy since there is not the slightest possibility that he is a spy for the government and the marines. Sanji then fights Ivankov for a boat, but to no avail as Ivankov easily defeated him. Ivankov then hands Sanji a newspaper since the news of Luffy has already been made public. Sanji then finds something surprising.
Sanji seems to be aware of what Luffy is doing while praying and smiles as he reads the article. Iva asks Sanji what she found in the article, but Sanji says that he won't answer, much to Iva's annoyance. After Sanji realizes that the "Kitchen Attack" from the Kammabakka Kingdom has enhancement properties, he tells Iva to give him the recipe in hopes of using it to help his crewmates. Iva bluntly says no to Sanji's request and gives the cook a challenge to win the recipe. He says that since Sanji refuses to learn Newkama Kempo, the cook will travel all over the island and defeat all 99 Newkama Kempo masters, each time he defeats one he will request one of the ninety-nine attack cooking recipes.. The problem is that the inhabitants of the island will chase him endlessly and try to dress him again. If he wins, Ivankov will grant his every wish, even giving him a ship, if he loses, there is no guarantee that Sanji will keep his manhood. Knowing that they cannot meet Luffy again with his level of fighting ability, Sanji enthusiastically accepts the challenge saying that he will become stronger.
Two Years Later
The Gathering of the Straw Hats
Two years have passed and Sanji has conquered Ivankov's challenge. the okama then give Sanji a ride back to the Sabaody Archipelago. After arriving at his destination, Sanji is delighted to see real women again. The okama say goodbye to Sanji and hope to see him again one day. Sanji responds by giving the okamas the middle finger and says that he will never return to Peachy Island. After arriving at Shakky's bar, Sanji is furious that Zoro was the first to come back and happy that Nami is back too. He is later seen asking a fisherman for some fish, but the fisherman is worried about a green-haired man who accidentally got on a pirate ship. Sanji, suspecting that he was Zoro, told the fisherman not to worry, when a large galleon exploded out of the water after being sliced in two by Zoro.
Sanji then meets up with Zoro, who said he wanted to go to the beach to fish. A furious Sanji stated that it would be a pain for the crew to go looking for him if he ends up getting lost and forced him to return to the Thousand Sunny. The two then started their usual fights with Sanji threatening to hit Zoro with his legs, trained during the two years in "hell". He then talked to Franky at the Den Den Mushi who told him that he will meet on the beach at Grove 42.
After receiving a call from Franky, Sanji informs Zoro of the Straw Hats' meeting place, which is in Grove 42. He and Zoro start their usual argument with Sanji talking to Zoro like a child and Zoro saying he's going to cut Sanji later. They hear a commotion coming from a nearby grove of trees. When they go to investigate, they meet Luffy, the Marines, Pacifistas, and the crew of the Fake Straw Hat Pirates. After meeting up with Luffy, Sanji and Zoro quickly destroy a Pacifista with a kick and a slash, respectively. The newly reformed Monster Trio then proceed to the ship. On the way, they meet Rayleigh. When Luffy told Rayleigh that he would become the pirate king, Sanji just smiled along with Zoro.
As the trio of monsters continue to run, they come across more marines. Perona helps the trio by defeating the marines with her negative ghosts. Sanji started giving her wicked looks which caused Perona to ask him if he was sick. Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy are then picked up by Chopper and a giant bird who then flew back to the ship. Seeing Robin and Nami for the first time in 2 years, he suffered a massive nosebleed. Later, when Boa Hancock assists the Straw Hats in intercepting a Navy ship, Sanji is "turned to stone"; simply at the sight of her and quickly became jealous of Luffy when he found out that he was Hancock's friend, and was sent to Kuja Island of all women. Then he suffered a pain in his heart when he felt that "his friends of his Okama helped him". With the Marines held back by the Straw Hats' newfound allies, the team plunged towards Fishman Island.
While sailing on the ocean, Sanji and the crew marvel at the location of the underwater world. As Nami begins to explain the properties of the resin used to coat the ship, Sanji has another massive nosebleed just watching Nami walk by. Sanji is thrown from the covered ship and had to be grabbed and picked up by Luffy. When Franky told the crew that they owe Kuma a debt, Sanji woke up and again expressed his bitterness at being sent to Momoiro while Luffy was sent to Amazon Lily.
Trip to Fishman Island
With the help of their sea cow, the Caribou Pirates meet up with the Straw Hats and prepare for battle. Caribou quickly sets foot on the Thousand Sunny. Before his team can follow, the sea cow, who turns out to be Mohmoo, runs away in fear after seeing Nami, Sanji, Luffy and leaving Caribou behind. The Straw Hats then tie Caribou up while he begs for mercy. When Caribou gives Nami a wicked look, Sanji kicks her. He then promptly suffers another huge nosebleed from looking at Nami and receives a transfusion of Chopper's blood. As they approach the "giant underwater waterfall", Sanji regains consciousness. Soon after they are attacked by the giant octopus Kraken and they all defeat it. Sanji uses two new techniques: "Blue Walk" and "Dible Jambe: Bien Cuit Grill Shot". Sanji shows off his new skills and techniques to give Luffy a chance to land a knockout punch. The Monster Trio defeat the Kraken, but not using lifelines, they are separated from the other Straw Hats as the ship heads down the 'underwater waterfall'. Sanji finally makes it back, though his and Luffy's skins were gone so he had to share with Zoro's. He along with everyone else was shocked to hear an underwater volcano starting to erupt.
While the rest of the crew were trying to get the ship to safety, Sanji was looking at the footage as part of his rehabilitation therapy until the volcano erupted. She asked Nami how far to Fishman Island and there was another nosebleed after looking at it. Once they had reached Fishman Island she began to think about all the mermaids and her uncontrollable nosebleeds returned. Chopper told him that it would be better for him not to see the mermaids, because they could cause him to lose too much blood and kill him. Sanji then proclaimed that he would rather die while he pervertedly thinks of mermaids than live a long life and not have his dream come true, so much so that he shocks Chopper and Usopp. So, he burns with passion loudly proclaiming that he will follow through.
The crew encounters a band of sea monsters led by Hammond, who gives the Straw Hats two options: join the new Gyoin Pirates or die. Luffy fends off Hammond and the Fishman prepares to attack. Franky activates Coup de Burst and the ship flies through the bubble surrounding Fishman Island. The ship then falls into a current and the Straw Hats are separated.
Adventure in the Underwater Paradise
Sanji, Luffy, Usopp and Chopper meet again at Keimi's house and manage to meet her again. Keimi introduces them to some of her friends, the mermaid quintuplets. When Keimi informs them that they are in a women's dormitory at the Mermaid Cafe, Sanji nearly has a nosebleed while in his apartment, but restrains himself, saying that he had sworn not to get a nosebleed or pass out while in the apartment. the island. Keimi then leads the four Straw Hats to the Mermaid Cave where Sanji meets the objects of her dreams, beautiful mermaids. When a mermaid takes his hand and greets him, Sanji begins to cry tears of joy, saying that he had found the All Blue, and that this is the day he was going to die and he could not know, a degree of happiness from another way.
Sanji then plays with the mermaids with a wicked expression on his face. Sanji happily states that he is going to live on Fishman Island. The four Straw Hats then go into hiding when a royal gondola arrives at the mermaid cave. A mermaid hides with Sanji hugging him, pushing her breasts into Sanji's face. The Neptune brothers appear in search of the people who entered Fishman Island illegally. The sirens deny seeing any intruders. As the Neptune brothers leave, Sanji couldn't contain himself any longer and expels a gigantic amount of blood coming out of his nose in the form of a mermaid in a sexy pose, forcing the Straw Hats to reveal themselves. Since Chopper had no blood of Sanji's type left (due to previous events and exceeding his rarity), Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper begin asking for a blood donation to save Sanji, who is experiencing a critical loss. Hammond and his group then appear and tell the story of how Fisher Tiger died and that there is a rule that prevents humans and Fishmen from sharing blood. The Fishman pirates attempt to capture the four Straw Hats, but Luffy repels them. Keimi steals the royal gondola and transports the Straw Hats to the city's port, where most of the humans are on the island.
At the city's harbor, the Straw Hats hopefully find blood donors for Sanji. After Sanji wakes up, he is horrified to see that his blood donors are two okama, Splash and Splatter.
Later, the Knights arrive to arrest him and Chopper, due to Madame Shirley's prediction and due to the false accusation for the mermaid kidnappings. After Chopper defeats some of the knights, Sanji tells him that he is going to see the mermaid princess. Chopper scolds Sanji, telling him that his beauty will instantly kill him.
Sanji then defeats the rest of the Armored Knights. Sanji expresses his disappointment that he had to give up his chance to go to the Ryugu Palace, as they were trying to handcuff him. Chopper scolds Sanji for overdoing things, but Sanji snaps back saying what's done is done, before complimenting him on his Kung-fu Point. Sanji and Chopper then find a wounded Hatchan, who warns them of an impending attack by the New Fishman Pirates.
Chopper then tends to Hatchan's wounds, while the doctor and Sanji are charged by the citizens of Fishman Island. As the citizens demand the return of the kidnapped mermaids, Sanji tries to explain that no one was kidnapped. While floating above Coral Hill on top of Megalo, Luffy spots them and jumps to meet them. Megalo, who was holding Princess Shirahoshi in her mouth, reaches her limit and spits it out of her. While the citizens instantly celebrate this as a mermaid princess kidnapping, Chopper yells at Sanji not to turn around or else he's going to have another nosebleed. In the end he turned around and for some reason turned to stone, with a funny attitude. After that, he is cured and can see "normally" now. to women without suffering from bleeding attacks.
Important fights
Win
Sanji usually fights opponents using some kind of hand-to-hand fighting style (with legs and also spinning head kicks). Sanji has defeated numerous enemies such as: Fullbody, Pearl (from the Krieg Gang), Koorobi (from the Arlong Gang), Mr.13, Miss Friday (the Unluckies), Mr. 3 and Mr. 2 (from Baroque works); Wanze, Jerry, Jyabura (from Cipher Pol 9), Sarukou from the Acchino Family, the leader of the Tobiou Ryders: Duval, and Absalom; He defeated Satori (Priest of Enel), together with Zoro he played the Groggy Ring against Hamburg, Big Pan and Pickles; and along with the other Straw Hats, Oz (in the Thriller Bark), and PX-4 a copy of Bartholomew Kuma along with Luffy and Zoro. He recently defeated Px-7 alongside Zoro, and, in Gyoncordia Plaza, he defeated Wadatsumi with the help of Jinbe.
Losses
Sanji has also suffered several defeats. They have defeated him: Gin, Enel, Califa (against whom he allowed himself to win), Caroline, Perona, Bartholomew Kuma and Donquixote Doflamingo.
Sanji by his moral code can't beat any woman in the world; since if the enemy is a woman he stays completely still. Like him fighting with Califa or when he almost died from bleeding on the underwater island. He becomes submissive and complacent towards any woman, getting scared by his attitude.
Character design

Censorship
