Sangha-Mbaéré Economic Prefecture
Sangha-Mbaéré (or simply called Sangha) is one of the two economic prefectures of the Central African Republic. It is located in the extreme south of the country, being one of the four corners of Central Africa. It has borders with Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo. Its capital is Nola. It borders the prefectures of Mambéré-Kadéï and Lobaye to the north.
In addition to Nola, the cities of Bambio, in the northeast, Tamori, along the Cameroonian border, and Salo, on the banks of the Sangha River, are also important.
Sangha is named after the main river that passes through this prefecture: the Sangha. The Kadéï River should also be highlighted.
In this economic prefecture is the Dzanga Reserve (Réserve du Dzanga, in French), which occupies more than 60% of the territory.
