The sand troopers are characters from the Star Wars universe. They are stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire, assigned to planets in desert environments. They are units of Stormtroopers equipped with antisolar plates and more cooling systems in their suits and helmets, trained to resist the inclement heat. The sand soldiers used indigenous beasts as mounts, such is the case of the dewbacks, which were even transported from Tatooine to other planets due to their extreme resistance. A group of Sandtroopers searched for the androids C-3PO and R2-D2 on the planet Tatooine when they were bringing the Death Star plans to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

They usually wear a pauldron over the right shoulder, which is black for soldiers and red or orange for officers. Some specific units also use a type of blue-green pauldron.

Usually these soldiers are not considered elite troops, because they are just a division of stormtroopers.
