Sanaag

Sanaag (Somali: Sanaag; Arabic: سناغ Sanāgh) is a region (gobolka) in the northern Somaliland, formerly part of the British Somaliland protectorate. Its capital is Erigabo, and it borders the Somali regions of Woqooyi Galbeed, Togdheer, Sool and Bari, and the Gulf of Aden.

This region consists of 10 districts:

  • Afwein
  • Badhan
  • Dajar
  • Dararweyne
  • Erigabo
  • Fiki Fuliye
  • Garadag
  • Hees
  • Lasqoray
  • Mayd

Sanaag is claimed by two self-proclaimed states, Somaliland (of which it forms the largest region) and Puntland.
