San Pedro Garza Garcia
San Pedro Garza García is a city and one of the fifty-one municipalities into which the Mexican state of Nuevo León is divided. It is part of the metropolitan area of Monterrey. It has established itself as an area with high purchasing power.[citation required]
The municipality, whose name honors Genaro Garza García (the governor who elevated it to the category of town in 1882) has a land area of 69.4 km², which covers a small part of the Sierra Madre Oriental. The altitude in the city of San Pedro Garza García is 640 meters above sea level and it has a population of 133,820.
History
The origins of the municipality are due to the emergence of the first houses in the so-called Valley of San Pedro de los Nogales, in the 16th century , when Diego de Montemayor founded the Hacienda de San Pedro de los Nogales on November 20, 1596 (which is currently the area called Casco Urbano) granting it to his son Diego "El mozo" and several other residents for exploitation of their agricultural resources. The Hacienda de San Pedro de los Nogales kept its rural appearance of its origins for a long time, but it was not until 1940 when it began a demographic and urban growth with the birth of Colonia del Valle at the request of Mr. Alberto Santos, who I glimpse a modern subdivision in a majestic landscape. Also during 1943, a group of Monterrey businessmen set the goal of building a golf club, which was established on February 1, 1951 under the name of Club Campestre Monterrey, thus contributing to the development of the municipality. It was not until 1988, when at the initiative of an enthusiastic group of residents before the Nuevo León State Congress, the municipality acquired its current name: "San Pedro Garza García", taking up the name it had before that it was Villa.

Climate
According to the Köppen climate classification, the climate is semi-arid (BSh), with an average annual temperature of 21.3 °C. During the summer, the maximum temperatures normally exceed 30 °C, and the minimum 17 °C. During winter, the highs are moderate (19 °C) and the lows are cool, with average lows below 10 °C for a few months of the year.

Orography
Approximately half of the municipal territory is mountainous, including Cerro de Chipinque, Cerro de las Mitras, Loma Larga and Cerro del Mirador. The highest point of the municipality is the Copete de las Águilas; in the Cerro de Chipinque, limits with Monterrey and Santa Catarina.
Hydrography
The Santa Catarina River crosses the municipality, feeding the springs of the Huasteca, located in the municipality of Santa Catarina. To the east it crosses the San Agustín Stream.
Government
San Pedro Garza García is governed by a mayor, two trustees, eight aldermen by simple majority, and four aldermen appointed by proportional representation. The mayor for the 2018-2021 triennium is Miguel Treviño de Hoyos, Independent candidate. Miguel Treviño de Hoyos is currently the mayor-elect after winning again in the 2021 San Pedro Garza García municipal elections.
Economy
This town with a little more than 126,000 sampetrinos, a name used for its natives, registered in 2018 a per capita income of USD 123,000 per year, according to the rating agency Fitch Ratings, compared to the USD 9,673 that Mexico had, according to with the World Bank.

Likewise, it is the headquarters of transnational corporations such as Vitro, Alfa, Cemex, Femsa and home to the important executives of the firms. Even within the municipality is the second tallest skyscraper in the country: the KOI Tower, a work of 280 meters high and 67 floors, which has offices, apartments and a hotel.

Heritage
The municipality has more than 20 museums and some of the most important cultural centers in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, such as:
- Auditorium San Pedro: enclosure where they take place from plays to classical music concerts.
- Planetarium Alfa: Museum Set, Astronomical Observatory and Omnimax Film Room, now known as IMAX Dome, inaugurated by the president of the Alpha Group, Bernardo Garza Sada. With an area of 3,000 square meters, distributed on four floors, it is intended for permanent displays of science, technology and art. On the outskirts of this building, there is an aviary and the Anthropology area. It has a multi-teatro, which is a hemispheric screen of 40 meters in diameter, it projects movies in Omnimax system, first in Latin America and fourth in the world, whose characteristic is to make the viewer feel at the scene.

Education
In the municipality of San Pedro Garza there are various schools of basic and upper secondary education, both public and private, the latter being the most prestigious in the state, as well as nationally and internationally recognized study houses such as the EGADE Business School, considered the best business school in Latin America, the School of Government and Public Transformation, both from Tecnológico de Monterrey and the University of Monterrey (UDEM).
Regiomontana Association of Japanese Language A.C. (モンテレー補習授業校 Monterē Hoshū Jugyō Kō), a part-time Japanese Complementary Institute, conducts its classes in San Pedro Garza García.
Valley Colony

Sports
The city has various sports parks, both public and private. The largest public park in San Pedro is Rufino Tamayo.
There are various sports facilities in the municipality such as the exclusive Club Campestre with a golf course, the Deportivo Alpino Chipinque, the San Agustín sports facility with an ice rink, the Tennis Center and the Casino del Valle among others.
Chipinque Ecological Park
In the foothills of Cerro de Chipinque, within the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, is the Chipinque Ecological Park, with 1,791 hectares, which covers altitudes from 730 to 2,200 meters with representative flora and fauna. The average annual temperature is 21 °C.
The Chipinque Ecological Park has the objective of conserving biodiversity through an integrated management that ensures the conservation of its natural resources, which in turn promotes respect and appreciation of the ecosystem and the geography of the place.
In its 25th anniversary of the park, the Chipinque brand was redesigned, which revitalized the relationship that visitors have with the park. He was in charge of creating the new identity
Health
The municipality has various health centers dependent on the State Health Secretariat, IMSS Clinics, Cruz Verde Municipal, Hospital Ángeles Valle Oriente (formerly Santa Engracia CIMA), Zambrano Hellion Medical Center, as well as several consultation modules sponsored by the municipal administration.
There are also private offices of renowned specialists in various areas, centers specialized in plastic surgery, and health services.

The city has several buildings taller than 100 meters. It is the city with the largest number of skyscrapers in the Monterrey metropolitan area, in addition to the fact that its tallest building was inaugurated in 2014, and in 2016 one of the tallest in Mexico.
