Flag of the Governor of St. Helena
Old flag, in use from 1874 to 1984
Old flag, in use from 1984 to 2019

The flag of Saint Helena was adopted on October 4, 1984. This flag is a British blue ensign, in which the Union Jack appears in the canton and incorporates the shield of Saint Helena in the farthest part of the mast. The blue ensign is the flag used most frequently by British dependencies and some British governmental institutions. Some countries that are former colonies of the United Kingdom, such as Australia or New Zealand, use the blue ensign design on their national flags.

The British Governor of Saint Helena has his own flag which, being the same as the flag of the United Kingdom, incorporates the shield of the island in its central part, surrounded by two laurel branches.

This flag is also used as the flag of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan de Cuna, on which the island is located, although the flag is not used for all of Saint Helena's islands. Tristán de Acuña has used its own flag since October 2002, while Ascension Island has used its own since May 2013.
