Season Four

In the final season of the series, the death of Marissa greatly affects all the characters. The season begins a few months after Marissa's death. Ryan has moved out of the Cohens' house and is making a living in a seedy bar, earning more extra money by participating in underground fights. Julie, Marissa's mother, continues unable to forget her daughter, completely neglecting her sister, who suppresses her sadness by doing pranks. Summer has become a radical hippie, intent on changing the world with progressive ideas, and Seth remains the same as ever. The fourth season is mostly about how the characters come back to their lives, slowly and each in their own way overcoming Marissa's death. Finally the series ends with each one with their lives, and fulfilling their dreams and expectations. During their stay at the bar Ryan falls into denial, arguing that he doesn't care about Marissa's death but after a talk with the Cohens and Summner, Ryan decides to face his pain and get over it. So Julie takes advantage of that and gives her information about Volchock's whereabouts, then they find him in Ensenada and reflect on what happened with Marissa, Ryan does not take revenge on Volchock by killing him as he had in mind so that this would end everything and tells him that he will have to to live with what he did. They end up arresting Volchok. Ryan will start his normal life very little by little and although it will cost him, thanks to the Cohens, especially Sandy, he will take a mature character and face things as they come. Seth and Summer will face situations where couples must be truly united, showing that they are made for each other. Throughout the season Ryan falls in love again, and maintains a relationship with Taylor Townsend, one of his classmates at Harbor with whom he never imagined having any kind of relationship, but little by little he understands that he has to let Marissa go. and go on with your life.
