Round pronator muscle

ImprimirCitar

The pronator teres muscle (Pronator teres or radii teres) is a superficial muscle of the forearm, located in the external part of the proximal and anterior region of the forearm; flattened and oblique.

It is supplied by the ulnar artery and the radial artery and innervated by the median nerve.

Origin and Insertion

It originates from two fascicles: one from the medial epicondyle or epicondyle of the humerus and the other, thinner, from the inner face of the coronoid process of the ulna (ulna). Between the two fascicles of origin passes the median nerve, which is the one that innervates it. Its insertion is distally, in the middle third of the lateral aspect of the radius, distal to the insertion of the supinator muscle.

Function

Its main function is to pronate the forearm but it also performs a slight flexion of the elbow joint.
