Rio Grande (1950 film)
Rio Grande (Rio Grande) is a 1950 American film directed by John Ford, starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
Together with Fort Apache (1948) and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), it is part of John Ford's well-known "cavalry trilogy".
Plot
Colonel Kirby Yorke (John Wayne) fights the Apaches from a fort near the Mexican border. His son, who has failed at West Point, enlists, being sent to Colonel Yorke's regiment, his father. Willing to get him out of there, Yorke's wife (Maureen O'Hara) also arrives at the fort, estranged from him due to the colonel's great attachment to the army and its rules. It is the reunion of marriage after many years of separation. In the midst of a bitter family conflict, the fight with the Indians intensifies.
