Regarding Henry

Regarding Henry (entitled Apropos of Henry in Spain and La fuerza de la verdad in Latin America) is a 1991 American drama film directed by Mike Nichols. The protagonist, Henry, is a true predator, unscrupulous corporate lawyer, who manages to redeem himself and succeed by defending the average American against the apparatus of huge corporations.

Plot

Henry is a highly successful lawyer with few scruples. While maintaining the appearance of a happy family, both he and his wife are unfaithful, and his relationship with his daughter Rachel is practically nil. One day, by chance, he goes down to buy tobacco and finds himself in a robbery at the supermarket. During the incident he is shot and, although he recovers from his injuries, he suffers severe brain damage that manifests in retrograde amnesia. He does not remember anything of his previous life, apparently successful and happy. As a little boy, he has to learn everything: speak, read, behave in public... As he gets better he realizes that before the accident he was a cold person at home and at work. His wife (Annette Bening) and his daughter (Mikki Allen) still love him and help him rebuild his life. He is determined to change and become a different man, but as he recovers from his past, he will have to choose between returning to his old life of fraud and apparent success, or embarking on a path of honesty and respect for others.
