Rebecca de mornay

Rebecca Jane Pearch (Santa Rosa, California, August 29, 1959) known as Rebecca De Mornay, is an American film and television actress. Known for her performances in the horror films The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Mother's Day.

Biography

She was born in Santa Rosa, California, as Rebecca Pearch. At the age of five, her stepfather, Richard De Mornay, from whom she derives her last name, died. Her mother then moved with her and her half-brother to Europe, where she grew up mainly in England and Austria, She graduated from school in Austria.

She began studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles and completed an apprenticeship at Francis Ford Coppola Studios. There she had the opportunity to make her film debut, in a film by Coppola himself: a small role in Corazonada ( One from the Heart ).

Shortly after he moved to the cinema with the 1983 film Risky Business, starring a young and almost unknown Tom Cruise, and which was a great box office success. Her portrayal of a young prostitute who ends up setting up a business at Cruise's home while his parents are away earned her rave reviews.

In the years that followed, he appeared in films with Jon Voight in Runaway Train, and with Kurt Russell in Backdraft. With director Roger Vadim, she shot a remake of And God Created Woman , a film that had brought Brigitte Bardot to fame.

Her next job was in the thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, in which she plays a vengeful nanny who gains the trust of the mother of the baby she care, to then act unexpectedly. With these films, she demonstrated her acting skills in a wide variety of roles, although the success of the last one conditioned her subsequent works, classifying her in roles of "bad" or ambiguous. Thus, she played the shady character of Milady in The Three Musketeers (1993) and an erotic thriller: Never talk to strangers i>, with Antonio Banderas. In 2012 she participated in American Reunion, playing Rachel, Finch's mother.

At the same time that he was taking part in movies, he was acting in movies and miniseries for television, at the rate of one or two productions per year. She has maintained her interest in this medium in recent years, and continues to perform regularly on television. She has also acted on a few occasions on stage, most notably in productions staged at Los Angeles theaters, such as the Pasadena Playhouse.

Personal life

He was married twice. Her first marriage lasted only two years and ended in divorce. The second was with Patrick O'Neal, son of actor Ryan O'Neal, with whom he has two children: Sofía, born on November 16, 1997, and Verónica, born on March 31, 2001. They divorced in 2002. She was also romantically involved with singer Leonard Cohen.
