The bolero ranchero is a Mexican musical genre, the result of the hybridization of the Cuban bolero with the Mexican ranchera song. Its creation is attributed to the singer and composer Rubén Fuentes, born in Ciudad Guzmán, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Among its most prominent performers are Pedro Infante, Jorge Valente, Amalia Mendoza, Flor Silvestre, Javier Solís and Helenita Vargas, among others.

Its heyday occurred in the 1960s, and the figure of Javier Solís stands out, who would ultimately become the most popular and prominent interpreter of this genre on a continental and world level, for which he was called the "King of the bolero ranchero".

Born in the middle of the XX century, it continues to be one of the most popular genres of Mexican music around the world.

His versatility has allowed conversions of other genres such as tango, bolero, ballad, Peruvian waltz and other Latin American, as well as European genres. His interpretation is fundamentally based on guitars, vihuelas, guitarrón, violins and trumpets. [citation needed ]
