Rain Man is a 1988 American drama film directed by Barry Levinson and starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in the lead roles.

Plot

Charles Babbitt (Tom Cruise) is a young man who lives the good life working for a successful car sales company. However, he receives the news that his father has died and attends his funeral. His father's lawyer reveals his will to her, where he leaves her a Buick convertible and his rose bushes. All the rest of his large inheritance is left to Raymond Babbitt (Dustin Hoffman), his older brother—whom he hadn't heard of until that moment—who is autistic and confined to a mental institution. Then Charles 'kidnaps' the girl. to Raymond, to claim half of the inheritance.

Over time, he grows fond of his brother and decides to offer him to live with him. At that moment, Raymond's friend tells him that he should stay there, since she has a dependency and needs 24-hour help.
