Quilín is a railway station that is part of the Santiago de Chile Metro network. It is located by a trench on the Vespucio Sur highway between the Los Presidentes and Las Torres stations on line 4.

Features and environment

This station stands out for its construction, since the line descends next to the highway, until it is immersed under the roundabout. This design made it possible to preserve part of the park that existed on the site before its construction. The roundabout marks, in turn, the limit of the communes of Macul (to the west) and Peñalolén (to the east). The station has an average daily flow of 11,650 passengers.

In the immediate surroundings are the Paseo Quilín Mall, various vineyards, schools and sports fields, in a new residential area that takes advantage of some of the land offered for sale from the former Cousiño Macul Winery to create real estate projects, generating a new construction pole in the foothills area. In addition, the headquarters of Laboratorios Andrómaco and the headquarters of the National Professional Football Association (ANFP) are located near the station, as well as the current studios of the television channel La Red.

Etymological origin

Its name is due to the fact that it is located inside the Rotonda Quilín, which receives its name from the avenue of the same name, which converges in this sector with Avenida Américo Vespucio and Avenida San Vicente de Paul.
