The evaluation of quality includes those activities carried out by a company, institution or organization in general, to determine its quality. Oversees quality control activities. It is sometimes defined as "quality control".

Quality or referential models are usually used, which allow the evaluation process and its results to be standardized, and therefore to be compared.

The best-known quality models in the world are Deming, Malcolm Baldrige, EFQM, etc.

Sometimes there are sectoral or local models, such as in Spain the Citizenship model, typical of the public sector.

Evaluation in the educational process

Evaluation is a dynamic and systematic process focused on changes in behavior and performance, through which we verify the achievements based on the objectives proposed in each content. It is said that it is dynamic because it is constantly changing, since it is presented in different ways, and in the educational aspect it is continuously. It is also said that it is systematic because it is based on a set of rules or principles on a related matter, in addition to contributing to a certain objective.

The evaluation in education consists of carrying out judgments about the advancement and progress of each student, estimating the knowledge, aptitudes and performance of each one of them. It allows us to know the learning process of each student to identify the needs and problems of individual learning, and highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the students, so that they, together with their teachers, can draw conclusions to increase their competence and obtain good results.

The use of evaluation allows generating cognitive and evaluative changes in the student, since through this process, the student can carry out a self-evaluation and detect what their weaknesses are so that they can later try to find a solution and achieve progress in their people. You can also detect your strengths to develop them to the fullest. What is sought with an evaluation is to make a somewhat deep analysis to detect the strengths and weaknesses of each student; that is to say, it is evaluated to do things better in educational development. For this reason, it is considered a most useful instrument to improve the functioning of the students, since these can motivate them to continue to excel, or on the contrary, their self-esteem can also be lowered, depending also on the attitude that the teacher takes in relation to the student.

How to evaluate

The main purpose of the assessment is to collect evidence about how students process and complete real-world tasks in a particular topic, as well as to identify what level of knowledge, skills, and attitudes they have developed over time. throughout the class.

The fact of evaluating does not only refer to the written exam, but to all those strategies that allow the analysis of the student's performance. As I mentioned before, the use of textbooks, the application of some exercises, questioning the students or simply observing the children, grandparents, grandmothers, etc., are ways that allow you to have a student's perspective.

The purpose of the evaluation is not to assign a numerical grade, as many believe. The purpose as I have mentioned is to recognize the strengths and weaknesses that the student has to help him excel. For this, not only theoretical knowledge must be evaluated, but also the skills, attitudes and values that the student possesses.
