Qualibou volcano
The Qualibou volcano is located very close to the city of Soufriere, east of Saint Lucia, a Caribbean country located north of Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago and south of Martinique, in waters of the Caribbean Sea. The word Qualibou means "place of death" in the language of the Carib Amerindians and in that place the Arawaks worshiped Yokaho, their god of fire. In the 18th century some match and gunpowder companies settled in the area to take advantage of its sulfur deposits.
Technically, Qualibou is not a volcano, but rather the remains of a volcano that erupted and then collapsed 39,000 years ago. The place is connected to the road network of Santa Lucía and therefore receives a large number of tourists, who come with the intention of appreciating its waterfalls and swimming in its sulfurous springs.
