Punta Doncella Lighthouse

The Punta Doncella lighthouse is a lighthouse for maritime air traffic. It is located in Punta Doncella, between the promenade and the seaport of Estepona, Malaga province, Spain. It was designed by the engineer Antonio Molina in 1861.

History

Construction began between 1861 and 1863, by the engineer Antonio Molina. The beam of light rose to a little more than 8 meters from the ground and 18 above sea level, with a range of about 12 nautical miles. In 1918, flashes of light were normalized as they are today. In 1922 a new 20 meter high tower was built.

The current lighthouse maintains the octagonal stone tower, the building has been renovated and expanded. The signal is automatic and new computerized remote control equipment has been installed.
