Contenido In Greek mythology Psophis is the name of three characters (one male and two female), all of them possible eponyms of the city of Psophis. They are described in a passage from Pausanias' Description of Greece.
Male:
- Psofis, a descendant of Níctimo. The lineage is as follows: Nictimo - Perifetes - Partaón - Aristas - Erimanto - Arrón - Psofis.
Female:
- Psofis, daughter of Janto and son of Erimanto.
- Psofis, daughter of Erix, a despota of Sicily. Heracles made her pregnant, but refused to take her with her. His father then sent her to the court of his guest Licortas, king of Fegea, and there Psofis gave birth to two twins called Prómaco and Equefron, who when they came to adults changed the name of the city by his mother.
Stephanus of Byzantium mentions another Psophis, daughter of Lycaon, as a possible eponym of the city.
