The progressive is a musical style of electronic music. The term is often confused with progressive music.

In the early 1990s, progressive house was a complex and evolving style, with dubs, percussive undertones, and samples of pop and exotic music. Its representatives were Drum Club, Spooky and William Orbit.

In Spain the term refers to Progressive Trance which gained a lot of fame from the mid-90s to the mid-2000s, but as many dj's mixed it with various styles of music such as eurodance, techno, hardtrance, vocal trance or hard house this way of DJing was wrongly called progressive.

History

Actually, the history of progressive begins with the emergence of trance in Germany, at the beginning of the 90s, and we have to follow the evolution of trance, and other styles.

Although, already in the 80s there were some songs with highs, especially within house, like "Good Life" from "Jack to the sound of the underground" from Hithouse, "Love can't turn around" by Farley "Jackmaster" Funk and Jesse Saunders; but even before house, we have "Tekno Talk" from Moskwa TV (Size 2XLC) from 1985. But when it really emerged it was in 1990, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, although at that time it was not called progressive, but trance. It began to be called Progressive from the second half of the 90s and only in Spain. Progressive is a style of music with many deep sounds and in each song the interpreter seeks to immerse himself in a "journey" to the listener. John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Damian Sarandeses, Sasha are some of the most representative artists of the genre.
