Synopsis
Attorney Rozat Sabich (Harrison Ford), who had an extramarital affair with a co-worker (Greta Scacchi), is a suspect in her subsequent murder. The entire legal system, which he has fought for, is now against him, and finally the case is brought before a judge. During the trial, however, many failures of the prosecution are discovered, so the case must be dismissed by the judge with an apology to the defendant, who did not commit the murder.
After the trial, Sabich's life returns to normal until one day he discovers, by chance, that it was his wife (Bonnie Bedelia) who killed her husband's lover because she had found out about his extramarital affair and reacted to it. "destroying the destroyer". Horrified, Sabich, out of consideration for his son (Jesse Bradford) decides not to inform the authorities about what his wife has done. In his opinion, "there is a victim, there is a perpetrator and there is a punishment."
