A presentation program is a type of software or computer application used to present information through a set of slides.

Features and utilities of online presentations

Typically, a presentation program includes three main functions, these are:

  1. An editor that allows you to insert texts and format it.
  2. A method to insert and manipulate images and graphics.
  3. A system to display the content continuously.

History

The first presentation program for microcomputers was Cromemco Slidemaster. The Slidemaster program was written by John Dunn and released by Cromemco in 1981. Slidemaster enabled Cromemco microcomputers, equipped with the Super Dazzler interface (SDI) to), display presentations with 4096 colors on a computer screen. PowerPoint was released to the market in 1987 in a black and white version. A new color version arrived in 1988. Since 1990, PowerPoint has belonged to the Microsoft Office office suite. In 2003 Apple released Keynote, as an alternative to the dominant Microsoft PowerPoint.
