Port sudan
Port Sudan, (Arabic: بورتسودان; Bur Sudan also known as Port Sudan) is a city in north-eastern Sudan (Africa), which is located on the shores of the Red Sea. It is the main commercial port of the country, which is why it receives a large part of the trade that reaches its shores, and it is the capital of the Sudanese province of Al-Bahr al-Ahmar. Its main exports are cattle and sheep, leather and skins, gum arabic and cotton.
Port Sudan was founded in 1905 by the British to allow the export of the country's agricultural products such as cotton, sesame, and sorghum grain. On June 11, 1940, during the East African Campaign of World War II, the city was bombed by the Royal Italian Air Force.
It has grown, among other things, thanks to the nearby coral reefs, which are a tourist attraction and invite diving. It also has wide beaches and oil has been found in its vicinity.
This city has a relatively well-equipped international airport and almost no population around it. The distance from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, is 675 kilometers in a straight line.
