Pneumotachograph
Pneumotachograph or Pneumotachometer is an instrument that can measure respiratory flow. This manages to measure the flow rate of gases breathed by recording the pressure differences in a device with fixed resistance to pressure flow. The Pneumotachograph is a term that integrates the jargon of respiratory physiology.
In a broad sense, pneumotachographs/meters are part of the family of gas flow sensors that are used in multiple medical and non-medical applications.
Physiological
In physiological jargon the term has an additional connotation which is to identify differential pressure flow sensors and thus distinguish them from turbines, hot wire sensors i>, ultrasonic sensors and other flow sensors of lesser diffusion within the specialty. There are several models of pneumotachograph/meter such as the capillary or Fleisch meter, the mesh or Lilly type, the variable orifice and the fixed hole.
