The Plaza de España and Noviciado stations constitute an interchange between lines 2, 3 and 10 of the Madrid Metro. Of these lines, the ones that have a station on their layout with the name Plaza de España are 3 and 10, while the one corresponding to line 2, linked to the previous ones through a tunnel that makes transfer possible, receives the name of Noviciate.

The Noviciado station is located in the Centro district, in the Universidad neighborhood. The Noviciado platforms are located under Calle de San Bernardo between the intersections with Calle Noviciado (hence its name) and Calle de los Reyes. The Plaza de España station is located between the neighborhoods of Argüelles (Moncloa-Aravaca district), Universidad and Palacio (Central district). The platforms of line 3 of Plaza de España under Calle de la Princesa, at the height of the square of the same name, and those of line 10 under Calle de los Reyes, deeper than those of the other two lines.

Since December 5, 2020, the diamonds with the Madrid Metro logo located at the entrances to the Plaza de España station have carried the colors of the national flag as a tribute to the Constitution.
