Plastic film, Wrap film (Argentina), Alusa (Chile) or Envoplast Paper (Venezuela) It is a roll of plastic that is typically used to seal food in containers to keep it fresh for a longer period of time.

In the plastic packaging sector, film turns out to be, together with bottles and bags, the product with the greatest specific weight.

The film is manufactured from pellets of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) as the two main materials used. There is a wide range of applications for the film:

  • Stretch film. Used for the coating of products previously packaged or semi-packed as the case of EPS trays for fresh products: fruit, vegetables, meat, fish. In some places he is called Envoplast by the vulgarized brand phenomenon.
  • Palletable film. Used for previously palletized loads pottery.
  • Retractable film. Used for potting and grouping of packaging and other products such as press or magazines, as well as for packaging.
  • Film alveolar. The classic bubble plastic.

In recent years, the sector has witnessed an increase in demand[citation required] thanks to two fundamental factors: the need for security in the transport of products has increased the demand for stretch wrap, alveolar and shrink film. On the other hand, current trends mean that packaged and better presented products are gaining more and more market share, which has considerably increased the use of stretch and shrink films as an element with hygienic and aesthetic characteristics.

The sectors that enjoy the greatest health are stretch and shrink film, which are mostly intended for the final consumer. Companies have invested great efforts in recent years to add value to these products. In most cases, their activities have been aimed at improving the printing sections, reaching ranges of 6 and 8 inks in flexographic printing.
