Plaka

AjustarCompartirImprimirCitar

Plaka is an old neighborhood in the historic center of Athens (Greece), considered the most attractive and colorful area of the city.
It is located almost immediately at the eastern foot of the Acropolis.
Its building structure largely derives from the Ottoman occupation period, in which the regular-plan urbanization —typically Greco-Roman— was destroyed and replaced by an unplanned urbanization, adjusted to the accidents of the relief. This has given rise to a neighborhood of labyrinthine streets, in many cases narrow and sloping, which are packed with taverns and restaurants.
