LIC and ZEC of Spain (2018)

Sites of Community Importance (SCIs) are areas in Europe designated of Community Interest for their potential contribution to restoring natural habitat, including ecosystems and biodiversity of wild fauna and flora. They emanate from the European Union Directive 92/43/EEC and are a figure of temporary protection that will become special conservation areas (ZEC), integrated into the Natura 2000 Network, where the special protection zones for birds (ZEPA) are also found, which on many occasions overlap territorially with the ZECs.
