Phaeanthus is a genus of phanerogamous plants with 28 species belonging to the Annonaceae family. They are native to Southeast Asia.

The genus was described by Hook.f. & Thomson and published in Flora Indica: being a systematic account of the plants.. 146. 1855. The type species is: Phaeanthus nutans Hook. F. & Thomson.
